Natalia Laskowski
Natalia Laskowski
Laskowski worked hard on the defensive end of the court, causing deflections and steals for her team. She displayed her offensive skills by executing a tough crossover to get past her defender and scoring at all three levels, including knocking down a couple of wing 3-pointers, a mid-range jumper, and a floater over taller opponents. Saugatuck could have a special year with Laskowski and company.
My notes from the Hopkins shootout could have filled an entire journal with all the things Carson did well. She is a dominant post player who excelled on both ends of the court. Carson has excellent court vision and willingly makes the extra pass from the high post to a cutting teammate. Additionally, she possesses soft hands and can finish effectively using both the right and left sides of the hoop.
Nabors is a shifty guard with the ball on a string. Using her speed and craftiness, she effectively gets past her defenders and makes excellent decisions when attacking with the ball. She has the ability to both create scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates, and she elevates the performance of those around her. In addition, she shows great tenacity on the defensive end and was able to come up with numerous steals throughout the game.

Miller uses her speed to run the floor in transition and reaps the benefit of easy buckets. She was getting to the rim and finishing through traffic and she knocked down a few corner 3’s. She anticipates well on the defensive side of the ball and came away with numerous steals on the day.
Freeland delivered an exceptional performance in the game against Kalamazoo Christian. Despite her Kent City team missing three key players, she remained unfazed. She effortlessly drove to the rim even when facing top talent and also showcased outstanding defensive skills against one of the state’s top players. Expect a spectacular July for Kenzy.

Ava Vanderveen
Ava Vanderveen
Vanderveen did a great job slashing through the lane and could handle the pass in traffic and finish. She worked hard on the offensive boards and had a few put-backs. Look for Ava to have a big July with her West Michigan Crush team.
Bonnema has a college-ready frame, and she was using it to her advantage with smaller guards on her, posting them up and showing impressive footwork around the rim. She was working hard on the offensive glass and taking the contact on the put-back. She showed off her range with a couple of deep 3’s.

VanDusen is a long, athletic guard who is smooth off the bounce. She came away with some steals and took them coast to coast. She rebounds well from her guard position. She has college range already from behind the arc. Look for Elliana to have a big July with her MBA team.
