The SPASH wing has continuously improved since I first saw her as an eighth grader down in Louisville. Awe has built her frame and has the strength to play through contact around the basket against elite frontcourt talents, and her skill set has come together nicely. She is a versatile 6-2/6-3 kid who is comfortable putting the ball on the floor, finishing with both hands, and her physical tools and athleticism give her a high ceiling defensively at the next level.
The number 3 player in Wisconsin’s Class of 2028 put together an impressive showing at the PGH Champions Challenge, helping lead the Purple Aces
to a 3-1 record in tournament play. She’s an unselfish player from what I observed, a reliable shooter knocking down contested three pointers when needed. On top of that she made her presence felt on the defensive end.
The Stevens Point wing is a player who turned heads late in the AAU season last summer, and it’s easy to understand why that happened. Awe is a 6’2 wing who can handle, shoot, and finish around the basket, and everyone who see’s her believes there is so much talent there, that it’s hard to pass up that talent and potential, and some of the programs you’ll find at the highest levels of the college game have offered her because of how high her ceiling is. She has all the tools to continue improving well into her college career.
The Stevens Point wing may be the most improved player among her peers. Last summer, Awe was a rangy forward who could block shots, showed potential with the ball in her hands, and could do some things on the perimeter, and it felt like she turned a corner at some point over the last handful of months. I’d say the 2028 who has asked me the most about in this group is Leah AweLeahAwe
