I'm sticking with the sensational sophomore theme. Why you might ask? Because this class is truly exciting. I mentioned in my previous article how these girls are ready to compete. They didn't just want to come in and sit and wait for their turn. No. They came in, competed, carved out their role, and excelled at whatever their coach asked for them to do. They didn't act like freshmen. Carry themselves like a freshman. Nor played like a freshman. They came in and shook the game up. Like I said, this is a special class.

The ‘27 class has it all. A lot of different characteristics and skill sets that a college coach could sit back and pick what they would need. There are dynamic/ shifty guards, shooters, stretch 4s, lockdown defenders, back to the basket bigs, face up bigs, anything you need, this class has. There are some sleepers, but I wouldn't call them that technically. I mean they are still young, they are sophomores, this is year 2. I am going to say this, there are plenty of game changers in this class and it is evident from their body of work during their freshman year of high school and travel ball season. Check the stats. Mark my words, this class is solid and with more court time, this may be a class that has a good number of girls playing at the next level.

Here are some ‘27 prospects I want you to check out. These girls are the truth. Trust me, there are plenty more out there, but these are just a few who compete from tip to the final whistle.

[player_tooltip player_id='821650' first='Alexis' last='Hammock'] (5'7/So./PG/ Grace Christian (Knox)- An energy giver, this young lady sets the tone for her ball club. A multi-level scoring threat, this kid pushes the ball well in transition. A heady ball player who makes the right plays. Knows when to strike, set something up, or exploit a weakness. Has a great understanding of the game. Defensively, she is active. Gets steals and deflections by the bunches. A solid kid who is a force to be reckoned with. A tough competitor who is hard to bottle up.

Laila Downs- Darden (6'0/So./CG/ Creek Wood)- ooh wee! Nice. Definitely an X-factor who is a game changer for sure. A 3 level scoring threat who is active as all get out. A fearless competitor who plays with energy, energy, and more energy. Offensively, she can score from multiple spots at a consistent clip. Possesses a quick first step, nice mid-range game, paint finisher. Defensively, she is a lockdown defender who can rebound and block shots. She's a go-getter. Someone whose stock is definitely climbing. Remember the name because she's about to take off. Great kid who is going to be a great addition for any program at the next level.

Maggie Kelley (5'10/So./F/ Lebanon)- A solid prospect in the making. This kid plays the game of basketball with relentless energy on both ends of the court. Has a high basketball IQ, she reads and reacts and always seems to be around the ball. She's the glue, doing all the extra effort that sparks her ball club and sets the tempo. She can score the rock from multiple spots on the floor, she can defend, neutralizing the opposition. She's on the boards, she's blocking shots, she's the go-getter that ignites the fire for her ball club. A high motor kid who is tough to deal with.

[player_tooltip player_id='821986' first='Caydence' last='Thomas'] (5'7/So./G/ Rockvale)- Solid prospect who can do all things. Yes she can score it from multiple spots on the floor, but it's the other things that makes her stand out even more. The way she defends, crashes the boards, gets steals, makes timely assists, opportunities like these are what catches my eyes the most. She comes to play and excels at her role. You need a bucket, she will go get it. You need a defensive stop, she's going get it. A tough competitor who plays the game with a lot of energy and effort.

[player_tooltip player_id='822242' first='Kyndall' last='Reynolds'] (5'9/So./G/ White Station)- Sensational lefty who has a sweet stroke from the field. This kid can score it from all 3 levels, inflicting a dagger in the hearts of opponents. Plays with poise, utilizes her speed, can create her own shots off the dribble, and so much more. I love her ability to get paint touches and challenge defenders on her way to the cup. Has a nice float game and will finish against contact if need be. Defensively, she is a lockdown defender who keeps the opposition in front. What I love the most, she will sacrifice her body to take charges. This kid is solid and will continue to get better each year. Look for her to jump on college coaches radars sooner rather than later.
