This is an important year for Abbajay Peters Abbajay Peters 5'6" | PG Waukee | 2028 State IA of Waukee High School. Peters came onto the scene last Winter as a Freshman and showed off her potential. In an absolutely STACKED 2028 Class, Peters falls into the Top 10 at #8 because of her mixture of athletic ability, her skill at the PG position, along with the smart head on her shoulders. In a lot of places this is PG #1 if she were in your program at the Varsity level this Winter. The biggest question Peters will have from myself is her Assist-Turnover ratio. Last year she had some games where the TO’s were a problem. If she can clean that up, her Waukee High School team is going to be tough to beat and Peters will have a chance to jump into the Top Five in her 2028 Class moving into the Spring Update of 2026.

There are still a lot of questions to be answered about Abbajay Peters Abbajay Peters 5'6" | PG Waukee | 2028 State IA as a whole but I think we get answers to those questions over the next six months. Peters is a top prospect out of the 2028 Class at the PG position. Her natural athletic ability is impressive for her age and position at this time. That ability helps her thrive against smaller, slower, or weaker defenders. In the open court, Peters is nearly impossible to stop, especially when she gets downhill in the full court. Her tight handle and understanding of her own ability helps her succeed in most situations so we should continue to see her dominate her competition this Winter as long as she controls her turnover rate per possession.

Peters was a standout last Winter for her Freshman Year when she led the Waukee program as their unquestionable leader at the PG position. This is the season that we find out if Abbajay Peters Abbajay Peters 5'6" | PG Waukee | 2028 State IA is “that” player at the PG position. Peters is coming off of a successful freshman campaign with her Waukee High School team and she is ready to follow that up with another eye-opening run. Peters checks off a lot of boxes that college coaches have for the next level. I think her best ability is how athletic she is. It’s second to none. That, along with knowledge of the game and some skill, makes her a tough player to contain. I hope that’s on full display over these next few months like it has been. If she continues on this pace, she should be receiving a lot of interest from the next level before you know it.

Peters picked up right where she left off after a special Freshman season with her Waukee Varsity team. When you are speaking about Peter’s play style, you start with the fact that she thrives off her athletic ability and body control. She is very good at controlling the tempo of the game and that is extremely noticeable while you watch her compete on any floor. Peter’s shined two weeks ago to kick things off with her Battlers program. I know she is going to continue to do better. Over-time she could become someone that is getting a lot of love at the collegiate levels. All the intangibles are there, now it’s about just continuing to make it work.

When you examine the Top 10 prospects out of this 2028 Class, you notice that Abbajay Peters Abbajay Peters 5'6" | PG Waukee | 2028 State IA could turn out as one of the best out of everyone at the next level. Peters is debatably one of the most athletic players the state of Iowa has to offer. It’s almost impossible to stick in front of her lightning quick first step, not to mention that she is also very skilled with the ball in her hands. She has a clean dribble with both hands, she can kill you go either way off the bounce, or she can create for others at a pretty high rate as well. The goal she will have over her next few seasons is to limited her TO numbers. If she can tighten that up a little bit, watch out cause we are potentially talking about a future Division-1 PG here.

Competing out of the 5A Class in Des Moines is no easy task. The competition level, the type of prospects that you see each night on the floor, and the type of scouting that you have to prepare for can be very tough to adapt to but if you can do it, it demonstrates that you have a promising future on the hardwood. Someone that has stepped up for their Freshman season out of that area is Abbajay Peters Abbajay Peters 5'6" | PG Waukee | 2028 State IA of Waukee High School. Peters has been someone that most are aware of but right now, she is beginning to come into her own. In her team’s contest against SE Polk on Friday, Peters recorded a game high 23 points (8-17) and 11 rebounds. With Peters’ quick first step, crafty adaptability, and knowledge of the game, she is going to quickly turn into one of the top prospects in the state. She played up last Spring/Summer for her AAU season and she was one of her team’s best. If she stays on this pace, she is going to like where things end up taking her.

Abbajay Peters Abbajay Peters 5'6" | PG Waukee | 2028 State IA of Waukee High School and Iowa Battlers AAU is someone to know out of the 2028 Class, if you don’t already. Peters recently played up a grade level this AAU season, holding her own and killing it a majority of the time. The two times I saw her on the road, she was fantastic. She was leading her team by example, controlling tempo and pace on both ends, she wasn’t taking any plays off, and most of the time – she was killing her personal matchup in 1v1 situations. At Waukee, I’m not sure if she will see a TON of Varsity time but she should see some. She is someone that can really GO so for tempo purposes, i’d give her a shot if I was on this coaching staff.
