I’m curious how this program and team is going to perform over the next few days. I might not know much but I do know that they are usually an organization that understands spacing on the floor really well so Baker should thrive if that is the case with her knock down shooting ability off the catch. It’s always a great weekend when you can be on the road with coaches in the building to watch you compete so I can’t wait to see what this group does as a whole.

Waukee notched their first win of the Winter season on Tuesday night with a 11 point win over SE Polk. In this outing, the standout for the Warriors was 2028 SG – Olivia Baker Olivia Baker 5'11" | CG/SF Waukee | 2028 State IA . Baker was feeling herself from the tip-off of this one. She finished with a team high 18 points on 7-11 shooting, including 4-6 from behind the three point line, and she recorded 8 rebounds. I know a few directors and recruiters that like the potential that Baker brings to the floor. It’s nice to see that she is proving all of those people right to kick-off her Sophomore campaign. Waukee has the pieces to be a dangerous team down the line. They need to play to their strengths and continue to build on what they have in place. If they do that, they might be a group you don’t want to see come Playoff time.

Another prospects, who might get their shot to see a lot of Varisty time over the next few years is Olivia Baker Olivia Baker 5'11" | CG/SF Waukee | 2028 State IA with her transfer to Waukee High School. Baker is talked about very highly by everyone in the basketball community because of her future potential. Baker has length, smarts, and the uncanny ability to make plays when things happen to break down within her team’s systems on both sides of the ball. She has a pure shooting stroke off the catch and she also seems to be a great teammate to those around her. We should see this Waukee group ball out with some 2029 and 2028 hoopers, with Baker being one of them over the next few years. They just have to stay locked in mentally and they should thrive moving forward.

Olivia Baker Olivia Baker 5'11" | CG/SF Waukee | 2028 State IA received her first collegiate offer this past week when Stephen’s College in Texas reached out to the skilled CG. Baker has been a player that coaches love to watch compete. Over the past few years, I have several AAU directors and collegiate coaches make comments about how good Baker could become by the end of her basketball career. She has natural length, talent on both ends, and situational awareness. She knows how and when to beat her matchups, never really struggling in that facet of the game from what I’ve seen. I’m not sure if Baker is going to get a varsity shot this Winter at Dc but I hope so. She is dedicated to the game and the promise is there, now she just needs to keep stacking up her experience and the rest will be history.

Olivia Baker Olivia Baker 5'11" | CG/SF Waukee | 2028 State IA changed AAU team this Spring season to compete with Elite 3SSB’] out of Nebraska and she did fairly well at holding her own on the road. Baker, a 5’9 CG, seems like a natural scorer. I haven’t seen it enough yet in her early career but there is a ton of promise here. Other than scoring, Baker has a great feel for how to play and win basketball games. She is really intelligent on both sides of the ball and that shines through in meaningful situations. I’m not sure if Baker is going to have a Varsity chance this upcoming Winter at Des Moines but I could see it. They will need to replace a ton of production so we will see but for Baker individually, she just needs to keep working. If she stays motivated, she will be college committed somewhere before you know it.

Olivia Baker Olivia Baker 5'11" | CG/SF Waukee | 2028 State IA made the move to ETG Midwest Elite this AAU season and she has been playing some consistent ball so far. Baker’s length and smooth fundamentals for her age are noteworthy. Everyone I’ve talked to is a big fan of the style of ball she plays. She isn’t someone who tries over-do it. She produces with very little dribbling and she doesn’t need the ball for long amounts of time to convert a bucket offensively. Just a few things that college recruiters love to see. 

Olivia Baker Olivia Baker 5'11" | CG/SF Waukee | 2028 State IA is oozing potential with her lengthy reach, her ability to shoot the basketball from multiple levels, and her better than average motor. We haven’t seen what Baker can do on the Varsity floor yet because she competes at the powerhouse that is Dowling Catholic but that should change up over the next couple of years. Baker is a prospect that has every tool in her tool box to be a completely rounded guard at the 2 or 3 spot on the floor with her. You ask it of her and she can make it happen. I am very interested to see how she does with her ETG Midwest Elite 3SSB team coming up. She is going to play along with a talented roster so how she fits in will be key. As long as all goes to plan, she should be able to make some waves and some of that potential she possesses should come to the surface some more.

Baker might not be someone that you hear about at the Varsity level for a few seasons because of their Varsity team’s high standards and ability but I think by the time that Olivia Baker Olivia Baker 5'11" | CG/SF Waukee | 2028 State IA becomes an upperclassmen, that she becomes someone that her Maroon’s team can look to for some production in a few different categories. She has always shown production against prospects her own age so it’s not a crazy thought to have. She will be one of the younger players in this League but that will do her well in the long run.
