Speaking of premier rising freshmen across the Palmetto State, that distinction certainly applies to this talented guard from the Upstate. Last week, Mitchum received her first collegiate offer which was an in-state get courtesy of Erskine College. Mitchum has plenty of years to go before she makes a collegiate decision but one can see why Flying Fleet coach Lisa Jackson would want to have Mitchum in an Erskine uniform when we arrive at 2030. She played in 24 games last season at 4A Pickens and led the Blue Flame in scoring averaging 12.6 points per game. Mitchum also led Pickens in steals (4.6 per contest) and assists (3.8 per contest) along with being second among Blue Flame participants in rebounding (5.3 per contest). Mitchum is bringing her talents to Daniel starting with the 2026-27 season.

I was somewhat surprised to find out after the game versus Gainesville that Mitchum was just a 2030. She was very impressive and showed a diverse skill set on the offensive end for being such a young player. Then I remembered that in South Carolina middle schoolers are allowed to play varsity. That explained part of the reasons she fit right in with the Daniel guards who I really came away with a high opinion of. Mitchum was confident and comfortable with the basketball in her hands on the bounce and on the move showing the ability to create her own shot against much older players. She also looked confident and had good form on her shot from the perimeter. Mitchum looked the part physically as well at almost 5’10 with good length, long wingspan. I had not seen Addie play before, but I very much look forward to seeing her play again. I think she has a very bright future with a big upside. Because of her varsity experience, she played with a calm and composure that it is rare for a kid her age.

Mitchum is another that will trade Pickens threads for those of Daniel. Mitchum has ran with FBC Amp Elite Red on the travel circuit and was the Live at LakePoint event during May’s live period. Throughout her athletic career, Mitchum has also competed in volleyball. Mitchum would play in all 24 games last season for the Blue Flame. She would average 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.6 steals and 3.8 assists in 2025-26 at Pickens. Mitchum was one of two from the class of 2030 on last season’s Blue Flame squad and is set to be another worthwhile addition to coach Cosandar Griffin’s Lions.
