When you hear about CR – Kennedy, you hear about some of their big name prospects but someone who does some great things for team is Alaina Canney Alaina Canney 6'2" | C Kennedy | 2026 IA . Canney is one of the taller players that the state has to offer out of the 2026 Class. She has always been very good with her back to the basket, as she can just simply move her weaker defender with her strength or she can score over the top while going through contact. CR – Kennedy will be tasked with slowing down another program from the same town in Xavier High School in just a few hours. If Canney can be her dominant self and the rest of their producers can make things happen when the clock is running down, this should shape out to be a narrow matchup with a lot of potential between both programs.

Alaina Canney will be a dependable presence inside for the Cougars again this season. The junior averaged 6 points and 6 boards last year and I think she will continue to contribute and will make for a solid 1-2 punch with senior forward Lexi Moore. With such a guard-heavy Missouri Valley Conference this season, I think there will be ample opportunity for the 6’2″ center to use her size to her advantage and bury defenders in the paint.

Alaina Canney is going to put up some numbers this Winter if she gets on the Varsity floor for some meaningful minutes. Canney has size at 6’2, physicality under the hoop, a soft touch on the basketball, and she is a solid all around teammate to others. During this event, Canney did her job of taking up space on the block and playing with her back to the basket. She also did a solid job of getting up and down the floor, beating her opponent while running rim-to-rim, usually leading to easy buckets in the grand scheme of things. At Kennedy this Winter, they are going to need a bruiser down low to control the painted area and I think Canney will be able to do that at a thorough rate. She showed solid promise on Saturday, now she just has to build on that.
