delivered moments throughout the Showdown that made you stop and take notice. Her ability to operate within the framework of team basketball while still dominating the game—especially as a sophomore—stood out. Pinnock consistently showed a strong feel for the game, reading the floor and making the right decisions. Whether it was scoring in transition on the wing, leading the break, or pulling up from behind the arc, Pinnock produced nearly every possession. She also impacted the game as a facilitator, feeding the post and penetrating before dishing to open teammates. Here, you could see her basketball IQ as she set up plays steps ahead of the action. Her shot—both in the midrange and from three—was smooth and controlled. Overall, her ability to blend scoring, playmaking, and decision-making within team concepts was a key part of her performance.

Pinnock is a player who I thought was one of the very best in November at the Insider Exposure Thanksgiving Classic. She had a presence on the ball and was very effective getting to the rim and scoring or ending up on the ground and then the free throw line. The toughness she showed in the game I watched was more than impressive as she was fouled hard multiple times (out of frustration) penetrating through the defense. She just popped right back up and did it again. Against White Tiger Elite, Alana had the kind of scoring impact that has her rated so high and in demand from college coaches. She is supremely talented offensively, shooting the ball at a high percentage from the midrange and behind the three point line. Her handle is tight but she is hard to stay in front of for defenders on the ball. All of this was on display as she was the difference maker in the game and the catalyst for Essence’s win. She has all the physical gifts and basketball intelligence to have a long career in this game.

Alana was the offensive engine and defensive anchor for Somerset throughout its championship run. Pinnock led the team in scoring in both the 3A semifinal (19 points) and the state final (15 points), showing impressive consistency and the ability to produce under pressure. In the title game, she led all scorers and nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with nine rebounds while setting the tone on both ends of the floor. Her versatility was on full display across the two games, averaging eight rebounds and 3.5 steals while using her length and instincts to disrupt opposing offenses. Logging nearly 64 minutes over the two contests, Pinnock’s two-way impact made her the driving force behind Somerset’s state championship.

Alana delivered a championship-level performance for Somerset Canyons, finishing with a game-high 15 points and 9 rebounds while adding 3 steals and 2 assists. Her impact was felt across the entire stat sheet and on both ends of the floor. Alana’s smooth step-back jumper created separation when her team needed a bucket, and her length and athleticism made her extremely difficult to contain when attacking the rim. Defensively, she disrupted passing lanes and made plays with her activity and reach. Despite drawing significant defensive attention as the primary offensive engine, she still found ways to produce and ultimately helped lead Somerset Canyons to its first-ever state championship.

delivered one of the most complete performances of the day, finishing with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks while shooting 8-17 from the field and 2-4 from three. What makes Pinnock stand out is her ability to influence the game in multiple ways without forcing offense. Pinnock has a switch that she can flip on and take over a game. She scored from the perimeter, attacked when lanes opened, and consistently made the right reads. Defensively, her length and instincts allowed her to disrupt passing lanes, get steals, and deflect passes and game long. Pinnock also showed versatility on the defensive van defending guards on the perimeter and challenging shots at shots at the rim. Pinnock’s versatility and two-way production helped Somerset stay in control during the latter part of the game.

has been one of the most productive guards among the state finals participants, combining strong scoring output with efficient shot selection. Averaging 15.5 points per game while shooting 51% from the field, Pinnock has been a offensive presence throughout the season. She has converted 142 field goals on 279 attempts across 24 games. Pinnock is smooth and a very efficient scorer. She can shoot from behind the arc, but she does a lot of her damage in the paint and at the rim. She excels in transition going coast to coast and she can also set up teammates for easy baskets.

continued to set the Standard for 2028 prospects as the Sophomore went off scoring the ball all over the court. Pinnock’simpact showed up through competitiveness, and scoring daggers that shifted momentum. She shot the ball well and got to the rack for some quality buckets. The sophomore star battled on both ends of the court and consistently shifted momentum and controlled the flow of the game- especially in the second half.

continues to show why she is regarded as the top ranking prospect in the 2028 class. She applies constant pressure on a defense, attacking with purpose and scoring from all levels — downhill drives, short mid-range touch, transition finishes, and trips to the foul line. What separates her is how effortless she makes it look. Pinnock has a natural ability to read angles, exploit mismatches, and score the ball. Her attack of the rim is powerful and controlled. She gets into the paint with intention, creates space with her body, and finishes through contact. Pinnock impacts the game on both sides of the floor, and her ability to score while staying composed and in control, cements her status as one of Florida’s elite guards.

It was tough to pick a Sophomore with the amount of talented Juniors and Seniors in this stacked 3A class. Alanna is just a really talented hooper that gets it done though. She’ll be under the spotlight on a team with high expectations led by her skill, size, and length that make her one of the best Sophomores in the state and the country. Pinnock is hard to defend, crashes the boards, uses her length on defense, and see the floor so well. Expecting a big year for her and the Cougars!

was so steady all summer long and just displayed ability and maturity so far advanced for her age. She has the all around game and can score, handle the ball, handle the pressure, and be a team leader. Pinnock’s midrange game is top level stuff and she can literally destroy an opponent shooting it. In offensive sets and during transition, Pinnock gets to her spots and makes the defense pay. She can also handle the ball and get to the rim. She is efficient, potent, and smooth and one of the hottest recruits in the State.
