Alex and St. Thomas matched up with Skutt Catholic on Friday, and she set the tone early. She opened the game by showcasing her ability to finish at the rim, moving well without the ball to create easy scoring opportunities on cuts and rubs. Alex also thrived in transition, continuing to pad the stat sheet with efficient finishes.

She displayed excellent touch with floaters over bigger defenders and the strength to finish through contact. In the second half, Alex expanded her showcase by proving she can flat-out shoot it—knocking down a series of threes as the Saints began to stretch their lead.

Alex closed the night with a team-high 33 points on an impressively efficient shooting performance.

Crouse is a strong willed point guard with a penchant for making the tough play. Holding several division offers she was named 5A first team by KSHSAA and SIK, second team by KBCA and first team Eastern Kansas League.

Players to Watch at the 2025 5A State Tournament

Crouse has a strong presence on the floor. As a perimeter shooting threat she used an effective jab step to back defenders off and to get to a step. A fierce basket attacker Crouse scored well in traffic.

I finally had a chance to watch the Alex Crouse Alex Crouse 5'8" | PG St Thomas Aquinas | 2026 State KS show in person at June’s Wichita I-35 Shoot-out. I wrote then that opponents matched up with her better bring it all game. A very physical player on both ends she scraps and battles with energy. Her skill set is one thing. The fact that she changes gears and pace at an instant is a clear pile separator. Crouse speeds the pace up or slows it down as needed, uses terrific head and shoulder fakes to create space to get going off the bounce or to shoot the jumper and shows a fluid release after squaring up. Defensively, she denies entry passes as well as anyone. Last season she was named to the brutal Eastern Kansas League’s second team.
