About Alex
Expert Analysis
Philip Gray | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Alex plays with good energy, has solid fundamentals, and her hands are always active on Defence. Her effort was consistently there, and she always made sure to box out around the glass. Her perimeter and interior on-ball defense stood out. She can also take you off the dribble to the cup for a bucket on offense if your defensive stance is off. Because of this, she fits well in any position for Derby. At times, even playing point and leading the break for them.

Dinsmore is a long SF/PF with a very mature game. She ran lanes well in transition, slid into position, shot a nice jumper and used her length and headiness effectively rebounding. Size was something Wichita Southeast did not match up well with and Dinsmore, with her ball and passing skills, made life difficult for anybody matched up with her. A very good all-around game.

Alex is a dynamic presence on both ends of the court, known for her dual ability to protect the rim and stretch the floor offensively. Defensively, she serves as a formidable shot-blocker, using her height, timing, and instincts to challenge opponents at the basket and alter shots. Her presence in the paint makes driving to the rim a difficult task for opposing teams, giving her team a strong defensive anchor. Offensively, Alex’s shooting range pulls defenders out of the paint, creating more space for her teammates to operate. This unique combination of skills allows her to impact the game in multiple ways, making her a versatile and invaluable player on the floor.

Alex is the definition of a player that has defense turning into offense. She’s not a person that just iso players and go get hers, she’s a player that get stops run the floor and scores within the flow of the offense. What was most impressive is her defense ability to block everything around the rim without fouling and rebound. She showed a few possession of her going coast to coast keeping the ball and during shooting drills she really knocked down the 3. Alex has D1 opportunities and she’s only going to get better.
