Another senior, another big time performance. McGarrah and Yokley absolutely set the tone on the night for Owasso. She looked strong, quick and confident off the dribble. With a first step that often allowed her to get downhill and really pressure the rim. Where she was also confident with runners and other shots in the 6-12 foot range. Once the defense started to expect her to drive, she even drilled a big stepback three in the middle of the second quarter.
The only drawback to the night, was when McGarrah went down with an injury on a drive in the final frame. Hopefully it’s an injury she’s capable of recovering from before next week’s game at the State Tournament.

The senior lead guard was a huge reason why Owasso was able to make a run in the fourth quarter. She caught fire from three, where she consistently drilled spot up looks. Off the dribble, McGarrah had a good drive to the rim but also looked shaky when firing up a three that didn’t have near the same accuracy as her set shots. Along with the scoring punch, she was often tasked to play a key role in handling the ball pressure that Edmond Memorial applies.

Another Owasso/JYD player, Alex is always fun to watch and has been for several years now. She is an extremely athletic player who uses her tremendous basketball smarts to almost always be at the right place at the right time. For that reason, I made a big note in my notebook that just said “involved in everything.” Looking back on some older notes about Alex, I’ve seen that several times by her name. She is (and apparently always has been) a “pot-stirrer.” She’s the kind you need on your squad to keep everything moving. She won’t let the other team stagnate on offense, because she is going to provide relentless defensive pressure. She won’t let her own offense stall because she is always flashing, moving, screening, and making herself available. She is a fun player to watch and most definitely one that any college coach would love to have on their squad.

Controls the pace of the game. Displayed quickness off the dribble, will slice and dice in traffic and find a way to the basket, started the second half with a strong drive to the basket, has good footwork in the paint and executed an up and under move on the left side, she plays with good energy and doesn’t get tired – I think she played the whole game, Finished the game with 7 points.
