About Aliyah

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’d say I have a good pace and I'm aggressive. I like to push the ball up the court and attack the basket. On defense, I try to stay in front of my player and get steals. I also look to help out my teammates by passing when they’re open. I’m working on always trying to move and staying active, trying to make something happen.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have received a Respect award from my school. I’m really proud to have received the Respect Award from my school. It’s a recognition that means a lot to me because it highlights the importance of treating others with kindness and understanding, both on and off the court. Whether it’s with my teammates, coaches, or classmates, I always try to show respect by being supportive, listening to others

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a 9th grader playing varsity basketball, I’ve developed a lot of important skills. First, I’ve learned leadership by stepping up when my team needs energy or direction, even though I’m younger than most of the other players. I’ve also gotten better at teamwork, understanding how to communicate on the court, trusting my teammates, and working together to get the best shots or plays.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that has a strong sports program, especially for basketball. I want a place where I can push myself both academically and athletically, with great coaches who will help me improve my game. It’s important to me that the college has a competitive team and a strong sports culture, but also supports its athletes with good facilities, training, and opportunities to grow.

She can knock down the 3 ball with time and space, use her handles to get to the rim, or pull up and hit a jumper from the mid-range. Her runner and floater game is tough too, so her finishing moves are very versatile and tough to defend with her deep bag.
