About Anya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My playing style is defined by a high basketball IQ, strong communication and a fundamentals first approach. I’m a versatile player who can fill any role the coach requires, bringing intensity and adaptability on both ends of the floor. With quick decision making and a defensive mindset I adjust my game to meet the teams needs in any situation.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have a reserved and observant personality often staying quiet at first, but once I feel comfortable, I’m deeply loyal, caring, and always looking out for others. I love to joke around and enjoy sharing laughs with those close to me and I’m always wanting the best for everyone around me.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

A-B honor roll National Junior Honors Society Track and Field

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed a leadership mentality to step up for my teammates and myself. I’ve also gained confidence in my teammates ability to work as hard as I do and building on strengths and weaknesses to get to a common goal. I’ve learned to manage my time while learning to be resilient and mentally tough, and building strong communication skills.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I had an ankle injury, and had to go through physical therapy to recover. Along with that, I was moved up to the 9th grade team and had to learn to adapt to my new team and knowledge.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for colleges that have strong academic programs of study with good career connections.I’m also looking for an athletic program that is competitive and has a strong coaching staff that supports athletic and personal growth. Most importantly colleges that offer athletic and academic scholarships with a culture that supports students success on campus and after college.

Abdullah ain’t from around here, and I should have asked how many players were from out of state. I took a picture of the middle school ballers, but check this out. She plays taller than her listed size, and she understands positioning, which helped her outrebound taller players, as well as score around the basket over them, putbacks included. Yes, she rebounded on both ends. Her defense was solid, plus she did a good job scoring off the dribble using good body control after contact
