With Henderson as part of the nucleus of the 3A Tigers, Blue Ridge has proven that they are not that far away from last season’s rendition that won an eye-popping 26 games. Henderson has played in 24 contests this season and is averaging 10 points, 7.6 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 3.1 steals this season. Defense is a part of her game she places plenty of emphasis on and many a ball handler knows it when Henderson’s lock down defense makes them turnover prone. Attacking the rim and drawing contact are two other strong points to Henderson’s game and this is enhanced by her free throw shooting.

Henderson is familiar with playing at the varsity level given her first season there was in the eighth grade. She has been a very valuable piece for the 3A Tigers and it proved itself again as Henderson scored 14 points in what was a hard-fought victory over an improved Boiling Springs team. She fuses together ball handling capabilities with fearlessness to attack the rim and deliver strong finishes at the cup. Henderson also gets herself in position to corral rebounds, makes efficient passes to her teammates and creates extra possessions with her defense.

Henderson first wore the Tigers colors when she was in the eighth grade and continues to progress in terms of her play. It appeared at times as if there was more than one of her on the court and this particularly was the case on defense where her strengths included a knack for deflecting passes. Henderson also displayed how she can be efficient as a transition runner and that she is unafraid to play the game on contact. Ball distribution and rebounding are two other elements to her game that shined in her team’s matchup with Hillcrest. Henderson managed seven points in what was a lopsided result in favor of Blue Ridge.

Henderson’s athletic resume includes a stint on the travel circuit with SC 76ers and she played at Blue Ridge MS before making her way to Blue Ridge HS which made a great run in the 3A postseason in 2021-22. Henderson’s calling card is her defense. She makes things uncomfortable for opposing ball carriers and those typically lead to turnovers which can wind up in Henderson’s palms. Her speed and quickness can come through on either end of the floor and she has no problems playing the game on contact which can place her at the free throw line.
