Martin’s defense was outstanding during the showcase. She sits low in a locked-in defensive stance and slides her feet to deliver heavy on-ball pressure. When a 50/50 ball is on the floor, she doesn’t hesitate—she dives to the floor to secure the extra possession.

Martin set the tone early on during 3-on-3 play. She is an aggressive competitor who continuously puts the ball handler on alert because she will rip the ball out of ball handlers’ hands defensively and brings consistent energy to the game. Equally impressive, is her ability to get her teammates involved on offense. She understands spacing, and can finish with either hand. Also rebounds the ball well and plays with a motor that stands out.

Martin has been seen by me before see evaluations here, but in this setting, she blew me away on both ends and will make a huge jump in the rankings. She was one of, if not the best defenders at the event, and seeing her out-rebound taller players falls into that DESIRE group, but she can score and punishing players off the dribble to score, then finish after contact was special, as was her pull-up jumper and court vision

I first caught Martin in the fall, and most recently PGH Texas lead scout Simmie Colson saw her in the first quarter of this year (see previous evaluations here) and what is very obvious is that Martin is an offensive threat that will make waves in high school. Martin brings relentless pressure defensively, staying attached to ball handlers and consistently making offensive players uncomfortable. She shows advanced instincts for her age, quickly identifying openings in the defense and attacking them with confidence and control. Whether finishing through traffic or forcing defenders into fouls, her physicality and aggressiveness around the basket make her a tough matchup on both ends of the floor.

Martin gave me a glimpse of what was coming in 2024, and last year @playerrimidies had her “On The Rise” Tip Sheet see evaluations here, so seeing her apply “on the ball” heat and pick pockets with ease, did I mention she falls into that #sizedontmatter group, well it doesn’t because she can play. She scored off the dribble, handled the ball under pressure, and saw the floor

Martin plays tremendous on-ball defense and has a knack for anticipating plays and disrupting drives. A young player that already reads the floor well by recognizing lanes to attack and using her body control to finish strong or draw contact. Her ability to combine defensive intensity with assertive interior play sets her apart from most players her age.

Martin is an athletic guard who showed she could use her athleticism on both ends of the court. Her “on the ball” pressure during the “1 on 1” drill immediately caught my attention and it didn’t change when the “5 on 5” games started. She falls into that #sizedontmatter group I love to hashtag and she showed me she could play as she set the defender up to attack the basket, body control was nice and it helped her finish off balance
