Freshman Showcase: 3-on-3 Scoring Standouts

To be honest, I wasn't a fan of the 3-on-3 at showcases a few years ago, simply because most of the players had never played in it, so you sort of get where this is going. The game has done almost a 360, sort of like how I used to do it on the court, but I wasn't dunking- just scoring and scoring multiple ways. Yesterday has shown me how this is growing and becoming more entertaining for me, as well as teaching players vital things they aren't getting from idiots on podcasts, on graphics, or, in many instances, wasting time training, so here ya go    Warren's name preceded her in a big way, so I was overexcited to see what she brought to the table from Louisiana. She immediately passed the so-called "eye test" and her being "long and athletic" was an issue for defenders. Her pull-up jumper is smooth; she also finishes strongly off the dribble, but she "follows her shot" comes out of nowhere to rebound and block shots, plays solid defense, as well as the passing lane     Williams was very good when I first saw her, and watching her "on the court" progression has her in the double-digit Tip Sheet group before she scores her first varsity basket <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/carter-williams/">see evaluations here</a>. She's more explosive off the dribble, and her body control after contact gave me some acrobatic finishes, but that ain't all. Not only did she drop the jumper with ease, but her court vision and defense have also shot up     Huckaby had me wanting to go back and read "East of Eden" but Steinbeck has been placed on hold, which is something defenders had problems trying to do- hold her. I saw her multiple times, and initially she created her shot with ease and dropped the jumper, yet her "catch and shoot" from deep turned up, while she also scored off the dribble to keep the defender guessing     McCray is another young lady who showed me early she was going to be a problem on the court <a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/kristie-mccray-2/">see evaluations here</a>, but she's even more poised and confident with the ball. Seeing her attack the basket strongly from multiple spots to score is one thing; watching her elevate off the dribble and score from midrange looked good, but her improved "catch and shoot" from deep looked     Martin has been seen by me before<a href="https://prepgirlshoops.com/player/ariel-martin/"> see evaluations here</a>, but in this setting, she blew me away on both ends and will make a huge jump in the rankings. She was one of, if not the best defenders at the event, and seeing her out-rebound taller players falls into that DESIRE group, but she can score and punishing players off the dribble to score, then finish after contact was special, as was her pull-up jumper and court vision
