Dhal is not just tall, but that she certainly is. She was at least 6 inches taller than me when I stood next to her and I am 6’3, so the height and hype, are real. I have never seen, let alone, stood next to a female player that tall in my life and for her to move the way she does at 6’10 as a freshman in high school is almost unbelievable. She doesn’t just move really well, but she was extremely effective doing the things we expect all tall players to do, but often take for granted. She may have missed 1-2 lay ups in the games I watched (3 and a half) and when she got fouled she shot the ball well and looked very comfortable from the free throw line. Defensively, she blocked several shots out of bounds while barely leaving the floor. She is athletic though and can get off the floor vertically as seen on the tip offs of each game and when she was grabbing rebounds on both ends of the floor. I’m not sure what I was expecting coming in with Athiel having heard about her size and only seen a couple clips on Instagram. She far exceeded whatever expectations I had for her and has the ability with her very rare size to become the number one pick in the WNBA draft one day.

The tallest player in the event and one of the biggest in the entire nation, Athiei Dhal announced her presence at Peach Games as she helped anchor the HER Elite backline. Against Porter Sports, Dhal had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 blocks. She was unstoppable when she got deep position for high-low feeds and managed to flash the ability to score with both hands. Power 5 programs are beginning to ramp up their recruitment of Dhal. Already with a nice base line, expect Athiei to rapidly improve playing against such elite competition on the EYBL circuit. Only a rising sophomore, Dhal’s ceiling is scary.

Athiei Dhal was impressive in the paint with how well she runs the floor and finishes through contact. She showed soft touch around the rim and made the most of her opportunities inside. On the defensive end, she anchored the team without fouling and protected the paint with discipline.

is 6’9″, and that alone makes her extremely difficult for anyone to match up with. There are very few scoring moves that work against a player of her size, and not many ways to stop a 6’9″ athlete from scoring once she establishes position.
Dhal moves well on the floor and knows how to use her size to her advantage by gaining position in front of the rim and finishing with drop steps for easy buckets. She keeps her hands high, making herself an easy target for teammates to pass to. Averaging 6.2 blocks per game, she forces opposing teams to think twice before attacking the paint.

is a 6’9 freshman with good coordination, footwork, and a soft touch around the rim, and she can run the floor. These attributes alone suggest a dominant force, and the stats back it up. She is averaging 26.9 PPG, shooting 66% from the field, and has scored 512 points this season. Dhal has recorded seven 30-point games so far, along with a season-high 43-point performance in which she shot 76% from the field. Athiei is always an eye-catcher in the gym with a seriously elite frame with her height and length. She has better mobility than past 6’9″ players I’ve seen in person, and she’s a serious clog or deterrent in the paint on defense. Those that are willing to dare come into her house are usually sent packing with a massive block from this post presence. She’s strong in the pick-and-roll game with a knack for pinning and sealing her defender off for easy buckets on the roll. Athiei also does a great job of keeping the ball high on rebounds and on her shot.
