Ava was one of the most relentless, aggressive defenders at the Showcase. Not only did Ava control the flow of the court offensively as the point guard, but she controlled her opponent’s flow, too, due to her persistent defense. Ava was able to boost her stats during the 5 v 5s with several jump balls, stolen passes, and forced turnovers. Typically, girls pick an offender to guard and stick with her, but Ava regularly picked up pressure on whoever had the ball, all while communicating with her own teammates about how to structure their alternating defensive tactics. A combination of great defense and a talented point guard is a feature that scouts are surely looking for in players.
