About Ava

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I focus on playing smart and being a good teammate. I work hard to see the court, make good passes, and stay solid on both offense and defense. My goal is to be a leader, keep the team organized, and contribute wherever I’m needed.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I focus on working hard and competing with a team first mentality. I aim to play with confidence, be reliable in every situation, and adapt quickly, always looking for ways to help the team succeed. I am coachable and always encourage feedback on taking my game to the next level.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Honors 1st & 2nd Semester

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve developed strong leadership skills. My teamwork has grown as I’ve learned to communicate better and help play to our strengths.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

While I haven’t faced any significant challenges, I continue to grow as a player by setting new goals and maintaining mental toughness as I work to achieve them. I stay focused on improving my skills and pushing myself to reach the next level.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college that offers both a strong women’s basketball program and academic opportunities.

Mersinger is one of the top scorers in her class as well as on her program, but with playoffs coming up, Mersinger could lean more towards her ability to lock down guards with her aggression and speed, rather than put all her energy into scoring. She is quick, she’s aware, and shows a strong amount of sicspline to not get into consistent foul trouble. Benet should find their way to Redbird Arena, and Mersinger’s ability to slow down her matchup will be key.
