Evan Bell | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Ava is a dynamic guard with a lethal perimeter jumper, great handles, and quickness that make her a difference maker on both sides of the ball. She drained a long two up top and found her hot spot in the corner, swishing two threes off the catch with a confident follow-through. Ava fights for rebounds, sees the floor extremely well, and creates space from defenders using a variety of effective dribble combinations. One of her best plays was a silky smooth catch, drift, crossover, acceleration, drive-by layup. She cut backdoor to score another layup, knocked down free throws, and dished out assists to cutters. Ava had a huge 10-point third quarter and scored 14 for Clarkston in the win.

Ava showed her competitive fire and toughness against very challenging opponents at the LBI Mitten Opening. She handled the ball with confidence, pushed the tempo, and created positive plays for Clarkston. Ava drove downhill with a full head of steam and dished a great dump-off pass to an open teammate for the assist. She ran the floor well, scoring a layup in transition, then attacked the final defender to make a strong and-one layup through contact– plus the free throw. Ava fired a kick-out pass to the corner for an assist, handled the ball with poise under pressure, caused fouls, and knocked down her shots at the line. Ava used a shot fake to freeze her defender, went by after a quick crossover dribble, and kissed the floater off the glass for two points. Ava motored up the court after securing a defensive rebound with a speedy dribble and drilled a corner three. She swiped the ball away, drove hard to the rim, and finished the play with the layup. Ava is going to be an important member of the Wolves’ backcourt this winter.
