In Indiana’s 2029 class, Avery has one of the more mature games already, she thinks the game very well, she sees things a step or two ahead, and this has allowed her to make plays on the ball defensively early and often. The point forward type is averaging 6.8 steals per game as a rookie, making her an imposing threat to opposing ball-handlers. In addition, the youngster is putting in 13.9 points per game, plus she’s handing out 3.4 assists per game for a good, veteran Kouts team who could make deep tournament runs this season and next.

Her strong ball-handling ability stood out as she went up against physical guards, maintaining control and creating opportunities on the floor. She consistently made smart offensive decisions, reading the defense well and knowing when to score or set up her teammates. Elijah also showed her shooting range, knocking down shots from beyond the three-point line while proving she can get to the elbow for mid-range jumpers. With her skill set and offensive versatility, she’ll be an exciting addition to Kouts’ roster as a freshman and a player who can make an immediate impact.

Avery displayed a variety of skills on Team 4 at the Freshman Showcase that shows her improved playing style. Her most notable feature was her ball-handling skills. Avery used different techniques, ranging from cross-over dribbles to between her legs, in order to get around aggressive defenders. Additionally, Avery showed to have improved her shooting accuracy by burying several distinct shots, which included 3-pointers, a floating field goal, and several lay-ups. All around, Avery proved to be an important offensive player, and a key aspect to Team 4’s success at the Freshman Showcase.

She used effective crossover dribbles to create separation and covered ground in a hurry as she glided to the basket with long strides. Avery finished with her left-hand off two feet, blocked a shot, and buried free throws with confidence at the line after causing fouls. She secured an offensive and dropped in a floater. Avery anticipated a pass to grab a steal on defense and had a smooth pull-up game. She buried corner jumper and showed her perimeter range with a pure corner three.
