Expert Analysis

Blaklee is another of the very talented point guards at the top of the 2028 rankings, sitting just outside of the top ten. She, also, has continued her excellent play this AAU season with Redline coming off a win in the state championship game with Murray County. Ledford scores with ease from the perimeter and is equally dangerous getting to the basket off the bounce. She is a very good athlete with sneaky ball handling who has no trouble creating the space necessary to get her shot off. She is an excellent distributor of the ball and on ball defender who has one unofficial offer from a division two school in the state. College coaches should not make the mistake of waiting to show serious interest and offer her like they did her sister Callen this past year. Several who I have spoken with have expressed their regret about that decision!

Ledford puts together another commanding weekend while guiding Redline to a 3-1 finish. The tough-nosed floor general controls the pace offensively and serves as the engine behind Redline’s high-powered perimeter attack. Blaklee scores confidently from all three levels and consistently rises to the occasion in big moments.
Her ability to stretch the floor with the three-point shot continues evolving into a major weapon, but what truly separates her is how she impacts winning in every area. Ledford handles primary playmaking duties, pressures defenders off the bounce and competes relentlessly on the defensive end. She makes timely plays whenever her team needs them most and continues proving herself as one of the premier guards in Georgia’s 2028 class.

With another weekend in the books, Blaklee continues to make more and more believers out of everyone. The battle-tested state champion guard isn’t just Northwest Georgia good; she’s one of the top point guards in all of Georgia. Ledford has another gear she can kick into that most guards don’t have. Her physicality quickly grabs your attention with strong shoulders which help her negate any size disadvantages at 5-foot-5. Ledford is an expert penetrator who loves to kick out to open shooters. Her outside shot has developed into a consistent weapon, a very good three-point shooter who torched the Macon Mystics for eight threes over two games. On Saturday, Ledford scored Redline’s first 13 points of the game and netted four triples in the opening frame. She finished with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Defensively, Ledford hounds ball handlers with quick hands and the willingness to press up. D-I & D-II schools should be tracking the 2028 over her final two seasons.

I have seen Blaklee with Redline in few events since she finished the high school season with a state championship and with her confidence at an all time high, so is the level of her play. Ledford in some games was the conductor of the orchestra initiating and facilitating the offense for Redline finishing those games close to double figures in assists. When opportunities to score the ball in those games presented themselves, she was efficient scoring on a single digit shot attempts. When her team needed her to score, Ledford had no problem doing that either finishing with nearly 20 points in a couple games. She is an elite shooter from behind the three point line and has a very good and quick pull up off the dribble from the midrange. She does an excellent job using her high level ball handling to penetrate the defense with her dribble and finishes really well with both hands around the basket. She has all the talent, skill, and physical tools it takes to be a very good college player. I have no doubt over the course of the next two years that Blaklee will prove to division one college coaches that she will have no problems playing on that level.

has quickly emerged as one of the more productive young guards in North Georgia, bringing confidence and scoring punch as a sophomore at Murray County. She plays with a scorer’s mentality, capable of knocking down shots from the perimeter while also attacking off the bounce. Ledford shows good feel for the game, picking her spots and playing with poise beyond her years. As she continues to add strength her ability to impact games consistently will only grow, but the early production and confidence already stand out.

We are at the point now where Blaklee is not “the little Ledford” or “Callan’s sister” (probably past that point a while ago). For the next two years Murray County will be her team to lead and there is no doubt that she will do an outstanding job. Forget the size right now, Ledford plays nowhere near her height. She is an elite athlete and her quickness and leaping ability should alleviate any concerns with that. She was a huge reason Redline was able to escape with a close win over a Southeast United team with several future college players. She is a very confident player and she brings up the level of play of those around her both at Murray County and did so again on Sunday with a very talented redline team. She is an elite shooter from three and the midrange and is very good breaking defenders down off the dribble and creating scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates. She is one of the very best guards in the state and proved again this weekend.

The younger Ledford’s personality seems to be a little different than her older sister. Callan wore her emotions on her sleeve and vocally encouraged her teammates, Blaklee seems to be more of a leader by example and all business on the court. She plays with a chip on her shoulder which can be seen in her assertiveness with the ball as she has no fear of bigger posts or contact and does a great job driving into the heart of the defense. She is excellent shooting the ball, particularly off the dribble and between about 10-15 feet. She handles the ball very well and plays with confidence. Ledford is also a very capable shooter from behind the three point line. she handles the ball very well and has good vision when finding open teammates. As good as Callan was, I expect Blaklee and Murray County to continue to be one of the best teams and programs in the state in AA.

Blaklee plays very similar to Callan, both are very skilled, extremely tough and competitive, and really understand how to create space and score on offense. It’s a pick your poison situation with the two and depending upon which sister the defense tries to limit or contain with extra help, the other normally will have a huge game scoring the ball. Blaklee played a very balanced game finishing with 18 points, four assists, and five steals while delivering passes in the pocket for Callan to catch in shoot from the perimeter or finish at the rim on the break. Ledford was excellent picking her spots on when to attack and score herself. She repeatedly got in the paint and scored as well as converting from the midrange. She also was excellent finding her other open teammates for open shots around the basket.

Ledford had one of, if not, the most impressive night scoring the ball on Friday finishing the game with 36 points and six rebounds in a 71-48 win over Laney. Ledford has the ball in her hands the majority of every game and she punishes opposing teams scoring the ball and with the pass. Teams generally put all of their defensive attention on Blaklee or her sister Callan when playing Murray. Both shoot the ball extremely well in catch and shoot situations as well as off the bounce. Both are good creating space of the dribble to get those perimeter shots off. And both use their shooting ability to create chances getting to the rim and scoring when defenders extend out to stop them from shooting. They are one of the best duos in Georgia and there is no surprise that they are still playing in Round Three.

Ledford did everything she could to keep Murray in the game, which she did, until late against nationally ranked Hebron Christian. Ledford scored from three, got in the paint and finished against tall opposition, as well as knocking down midrange jump shots. She was equally impressive distributing the ball on Murray County’s fast break and half court offense to her teammates in position to score. Ledford, a physically strong kid, chased down rebounds and loose balls all game long and generated steals on defense.
