Sam Duren | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
From last September’s showcase camp, it was evident that Shine had a different gear and burst for a player of her age. Because of that she’s a handful to cover off the dribble. Leading to a few different monstrous scoring outputs this past season. Including 54 points against Santa Fe South. Her jumper must be respected, which makes her ability to attack the rim even stronger. Especially as she’s starting to learn to change pace and play stronger off of two feet. Important name to track this spring and summer.

An athletic, guard who might already have an extra gear when it comes to pushing it in transition. And she can break down the defense in the halfcourt with short area quickness. Is a skilled finishing at the rim, with floaters, layups and more moves. The Lady Comets are replacing a lot of talent, so the quick young guard could see the court sooner rather than later.

Quick point guard that pushes the tempo baseline to baseline looking for easy buckets in transition. Good change of speed on the attack getting by the defender scoring with a layup or floater. Best move of the day was a reverse spin move finishing with a left-hand layup. Good vision up the floor advancing the ball on the breaks with a pass. Nice reads in a 2 man pick and roll game knocking down the jumper or hitting the roller for an easy score.
Tough man to man defender in the open floor showing quick lateral footwork. The quick hands and quick feet created deflections and turnovers for easy buckets. Looking forward to following Calinn this upcoming season..
