Mullin’s foundational defense fostered an environment where young players banded together to get after it. It was her ‘lead by example’ attitude that stood out over many other aspects of her game. She made it her point to make ballhandlers uncomfortable and there were plenty of sacrifices made for the greater good of the team.

Cassidy scored a team high 16 pts as Thayer took down Phillips Exter. Mullin’s strengths have been on full display and with her asserting herself more as a scoring threat, she’s a senior to have under close watch.

Cassidy is the engine that makes everything go, leading her team in scoring (17.3 ppg), steals (5.1 spg), and assists (4.1 apg). As a senior, she brings valuable veteran leadership and was recognized last season with a spot on the NEPSAC Class A Defensive Player of the Year watchlist for her elite impact on that end of the floor.

Mullin is one of those players that leaves it all out there on the floor. Thayer fell just short against St. Mark’s, but her 21 pts, 4 ast and 8 stl were key in keeping the team in the battle. Mullin brings intense effort no matter who she’s playing. This is one of the reasons she’s so striking.

The Thayer point is due for a big season. Mullin is one of the better true point guards in her class. She’s not worries about stats; Cassidy just does her job to the best of her ability, on a consistent basis. One aspect of her game that may get overlooked is how coachable she is. Mullin is an extension of the play-caller on the floor, one that that exerts maximum effort across the board.

Cassidy has been mentioned a handful of times through the summer and for good reason. She’s a fierce competitor that leaves it all out there. Mullin leads the troops, directs traffic, is a decisive decision maker with the ball in her hands, makes plays for others simply and causes havoc on the defensive end.

Mullin has great tools that allow her success. She’s fast and controls the pace with prime offensive initiation abilities. The driving lanes she creates force the defense to react as she’s attacking which allows her to also find open teammates. Her finishes at the rim show that she’s comfortable putting up shots in the lane from various angles. What hasn’t been mentioned is her defense though. She’s stifling on this side of the ball. Cassidy can be tasked with a plethora of duties in any game, but that’s no problem for this guard. Whether its isolation coverage, shading players to a side, face guarding or just being an overall pest in help, Mullin will come through.

Mullin is a player that’s prepared to do her job each time she steps on the floor. She’s not a player that usually does too much with the ball in her hands, Cassidy would much rather make the connective pass to open teammates and fill the lane. She understands that early initiation of the offense sets her teammates up nicely before the defense has time to react. Mullin also shows the ability to attack the open space, making other defenders respond to what she’s doing. She has the capacity to finish amongst a great deal of contact and sometimes she’ll even use her lane penetration as decoy to feed the open big on the opposite block. On the other side of the ball, Cassidy has shown to be a profound defender. She closes the gap quickly and doesn’t easily allow players the space to operate comfortably. The ’26 guard shouldn’t be glossed over when it comes to effective point guards.
