One of the latest offers that was extended in the direction of a Palmetto State prospect was landed by one of the many seniors at 5A Division 1 Clover. Powell added an offer from Lynchburg and its coach Allison Nichols. Her Lynchburg offer adds to previous ones she had received from Mary Baldwin University (also a Virginia school), Sewanee and Wilson CollegeShe wore the uniform of SC Eagles for her final spring and summer in the travel realm. Last season’s Blue Eagles concluded the 2024-25 season with a record of 23-3. Powell averaged 10.6 points, five rebounds and 1.3 steals in the 26 games she played. Expect coach Shakkia Walker’s Clover assembling to once again be in the 5A Division 1 state conversation this season in large part because of Powell’s play.

Offers were plentiful this past weekend for anyone who wears the Clover colors. Powell proved that as she secured offers from two schools. One of them was Sewanee in Tennessee and the other was Wilson College in Pennsylvania. Powell also concluded her career playing grassroots ball with SC Eagles . The career numbers Powell posted in 2024-25 were a massive reason why 5A Division 1 Clover concluded last season with a mark of 23-3. She played all 26 games for the Blue Eagles and averaged 10.6 points, five rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Powell’s presence will likely have Clover in a spot to contend from start to finish once again. 

Powell played a massive part in 5A Division 1 Clover’s 23-3 season in 2024-25 and coach Shakkia Walker’s Blue Eagles will be in search of even more success in 2025-26. She was recently offered by Mary Baldwin University in Virginia and its head coach Brad Rideout. We at Prep Girls Hoops observed Powell on several occasions as her SC Eagles UA Rise 17U team was a mainstay on this year’s Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. Powell posted career numbers last season for the Blue Eagles, playing in all 26 games and averaging 10.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per contest. 

Powell is another talent that we at Prep Girls Hoops have become familiar with recently. She is coming off an impressive showing on the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit with SC Eagles UA Rise 16U. In addition to basketball, she also competes in track and field events – including in the high jump. Her playmaking and shot making ability can throw off defenses as they will be unsure as to if Powell will attempt from midrange or long-range or if she will finish close to the rim. Standing at 5-foot-10 can certainly provide a height advantage and she knows how to stay active away from the ball.

Powell was able to drain a handful of three-pointers with us in attendance today. Clara is a confident shooter to get her shots up when needed. She moves well away from the ball to make plays at times. Clara prefers to play faceup to the basket.

Clara and the Lady Eagles this season could be a team to watch out for in the Upstate this season.
