Smith’s 5A Division 1 Clover team may have been on the wrong end of a 51-42 defeat to 5A Division 1 defending champion Blythewood, but Smith was a major catalyst behing a late Blue Eagles comeback effort. Smith tallied 10 points off the bench as Clover outscored the Bengals by a margin of 19-12 in the fourth quarter. She is one of the Blue Eagles’ leaders in terms of steals and assists – testaments to her defensive and passing skills. Smith maintains a busy athletic schedule between playing basketball and soccer. As a senior, her AAU career has come to a close and she wore the EA Lady Stars/Team KB uniform for her final travel campaign.

If a coach wants a player that is willing to do whatever you ask of her on the court than look no further. Georgia can get herself open and make plays on the perimeter. She handles the ball well enough to create off the dribble or knock down shots beyond the arc. Her ability to rebound from the guard position and start the transition break is a bonus.

Versatile is a word I would use to describe Georgia. She showed she could create for herself and others off the dribble and pass. There were numerous times throughout the showcase that she was able to get the ball where it needed to go on offense whether it was making a lead pass in transition or hit the roller off of a ball screen. Georgia is a strong guard and rebounds well. She was solid in the stat category on assist, steals and rebounds.

The Blue Eagles of 5A Division 1 Clover have been very active during the travel and showcase seasons and that continued as Smith turned in another stellar Blue Eagles performance only a half hour away from Clover HS. Smith can haul in her fair share of rebounds and also displays superb ball handling capabilities. Transition plays are another strong point to her game as is ball distribution. The heads-up attitude she approaches the game with puts her in position to make plays and gives her team great chances to capture plenty of victories. Last season’s Blue Eagles finished with a 23-3 record and the veterans that will make up its 2025-26 core – including Smith – will surely have Clover as a 5A Division 1 favorite once again this season.

Clover – one of the teams to beat among 5A Division 1 combatants – was well-represented this past weekend in Florence. Smith was one of the more consistent playmakers at the Passion Driven Showcase. Her heads-up attitude enabled her to make a large number of plays and she understood the art of getting out in transition. A 3-point shot is also part of her offensive arsenal and she knows how to move and make plays even without the ball in her hand. It is only fitting coach Shakkia Walker’s Blue Eagles were well-represented at a showcase event that mostly featured seniors and juniors given Clover’s veteran core has it poised to once again contend for state in 2025-26. Smith was one of the five All-Tournament recipients for the weekend. Smith was part of Team Goodson’s roster this past weekend.
