Elle had a very good tournament in Greensboro showing her ability to impact the game in a lot of ways. Her best scoring performance came against the Winston- Salem Stealers where she dominated the majority of the game with her play. Elle was the most aggressive I have ever seen in that game while still playing under control for Tennessee United. She put the ball in the basket in just about every way possible in the paint in that game. Johnson attacked the basket with a purpose and was rewarded for her efforts with 16 points. Elle has great hands and a soft touch around the rim and was able to elevate and finish over every defender at the tournament. It was also good to see her step out to the perimeter and take some jump shots, including a couple three point attempts. Her confidence seemed to be as high as I can remember it. She had multiple highlight blocks that she sent out of bounds with authority and was all dominant on the backboards. Without question, this was the best I have seen Elle play since I started watching her 2-3 years ago.

was battling inside for rebounds on both ends of the court, and she used her length to get in the way on defense. She battled for her points using her footwork to get into position and score in the paint. She runs the floor well being ready for the pass in transition, and she knows when to make the kick out to her teammates around the perimeter.

Through no fault of her own, Elle probably did not see the amount of playing time or minutes she deserved in her freshman season with Hebron. The team won a state championship and had three players sign to play college basketball at Tennessee, Furman, and West Georgia, two at her position. She has now transferred back to Jefferson and I have to say she looked much more at ease and comfortable playing with some of the kids she grew up with. Elle has been working and it’s evident. She seems to keep growing (I could be wrong) but is now not only adding strength and muscle to her frame, she kept her conditioning. Johnson moved very well with the added muscle and with ease. She swatted shots out of bounds several times in both games I saw which I have become accustomed to when watching her play. If it were in college, one may have ended up on SportCenter. It was on the offensive end I saw the work. There were several possessions Elle posted up big using her length to extend for the pass and then used very nice footwork before getting her shots up and over the defenders. Drop steps, pivots, spin moves and even one inside pivot Johnson showed at various points on day one. She looked confident and smooth doing it. She, like, Salmon, also did a really nice job using the glass on her shots in the post. I expect her to continue playing well the rest of the Summer and her to be a major (Power Four) division one prospect in the next few years.

Elle just finished her freshman season at Hebron surrounded by upperclassmen with division one talent where her playing time was limited but she performed well when she was on the court. Elle is tall and long and moves very well for her size and age. I was able to watch her play this past weekend and she looked ready to have a big travel ball season. Elle had great presence in the paint against a very good Winners United team. The thing that stood out most was how assertive she was when she was on the court. Almost like she had it all pinned up inside and it was ready to come out. She attacked the basketball on the glass, especially on the offensive end. She got big and posted up calling for the ball several times. She also displayed excellent footwork pivoting and drop stepping in a lot of traffic. She was active and energetic and took advantage of her touches scoring the ball on put backs and assist. She played with an edge and a little bit of grit which is something college coaches will like to see. Elle could comeback before her sophomore season having gained multiple offers after an impressive showing this Spring and Summer.

Elle had an impact on the game on both ends and had some good stretches of play for Hebron. Johnson rebounded the ball well and her presence was a deterrent to Murray County players around the rim. On offense, Johnson made a a quick, instinctive high-low pass from the elbow to the block against the zone defense that resulted in an easy layup for Hebron. Johnson runs the floor well for her size and should be a key contributor off the bench in the second half of the season.
