PGH GA Soph ID Camp Team 4

Team Four was of players that have proven just how good they are on the varsity level and kids who are are ready to make their impact this upcoming season. With only one true post player in the group, this team was a lot of fun to watch as they really pushed the ball in transition, alternating ball handlers, and scorers on the break. Multiple players already hold college offers and others will soon.    Rollan was the only player at the showcase from Tennessee and may have been the only kid participating from out of state. She definitely represented the Volunteer state well as the smooth lefty put on a display of impressive skills on the offensive end of the court. Rollan scored the ball from all three levels in both games I saw her team play. She has one of the quickest releases I have seen on a jump shooter in a long time. The ball was caught at her hip, up next to her ear, and released high out of her left hand and rotating toward the basket before you could say one Tennessee. Madilyn was very crafty finishing around the rim off the glass as well, which she did multiple times from both inside and outside the paint.     Speringo is a player I saw with Jefferson a couple different times this Summer and came away impressed with her size and skill. That was the case after the showcase again this past weekend as [player_tooltip player_id='885455' first='Olivia' last=''] was one of the top scorers for both her 3v3 and 5v5 teams. [player_tooltip player_id='885455' first='Olivia' last=''] moves very well without the basketball keeping herself out of the way of the ball handler but staying in constant motion looking to receive the basketball. Speringo consistently knocked shots from the perimeter and finished very well at the rim for the better part of four hours no matter who her team was playing. Speringo also ran the floor well, played very hard, and with showed impressive basket intelligence. She showed a lot of confidence with possession of the ball and was decisive in her decision-making when looking to score. she should partner very well with one of the top 2029 prospects in the Southeast, [player_tooltip player_id='1263834' first='Elle' last='Johnson'], at Jefferson the next three years.     Alana is one of the better shooters and wings in the loaded 2029 class in Georgia. I have seen her play a lot and know she is a competent and capable scorer who is decisive when she gets the basketball. So it was great to see her play in a completely different role at the Sophomore ID Camp. Alana ran the point position for a good chunk of their games, especially leading her team out on the break. [player_tooltip player_id='899804' first='Imari' last='Thompson'] and others became the beneficiaries. As they sprinted out in transition, Alana kept her head up, extended the basketball out in front of her with push dribbles, and then surveyed the floor before finding one of her talented teammates for an easy score. DeWitt herself took advantage of easy scoring opportunities when they were, but not forcing shots trying to pad her stats which some players do in these events. When I asked her father Derrick, who coaches Marietta about the upcoming school schedule I was excited to hear they will be playing in more big time exposure events this season where she will continue to show her skills and versatility to the college coaches that will be watching.     Imari is player I saw a lot of during her freshman season with Luella use her power and strength to have a very positive impact on games. She was one of the very best players on a team filled with future college players competing against the best teams in the Southeast. It was her skill and finesse that I had not seen her play with on the perimeter that impressed me most. Thompson always sprints out hard on the break and usually scores a few times in transition in the games I have seen her play in the past and she did it again with regularity at the showcase. She was very good putting the ball on the floor versus bigger, slower defenders on the perimeter and getting to the basket while also showing the ability to elevate over smaller guards and finish. She is already a legit college prospect who has a very good chance to be a division one player.     Addie took the opportunity to showcase another part of her game in the individual event designed for just the purpose. She is always excellent pushing the basketball out on the break, but Harrell looked as though she made a concerted effort to distribute the ball to her teammates rather than score on Saturday. She passed up several opportunities to keep the basketball with a probability of scoring, but Addie was patient, waited on the defender to try and stop the ball before dropping the ball off to a teammate for an easy lay up at the rim. Addison is a tall, long guard with very good quickness and leaping ability which she used to rebound the ball well and create steals defensively. The very talented combo guard is already receiving interest from colleges on the division one and two level.     Coming off an injury that prevented her from finishing travel ball with her Thunder team in July, you would have never known by the way Naomi played at the ID camp. Hulett is a throw back, pass-first point guard who showed a lot of grit on both ends of the floor. Hulett shot the ball well from the perimeter at camp, but there were at least two different times when she knew her shot was off, sprinted to the post, and got her own miss creating extra possessions for her team. What was just impressive to me was that she did not waste the extra possessions by trying to force a pass or take a bad shot. Instead, she got her team reset and got them a good shot at the basket. Naomi play very good defense as well, especially on the ball. Not only did she gain her teammates trust by getting the basketball to the best scoring option on most plays, but with her vocal leadership.     If there was a "Hustle" Award (not a bad idea) for the Georgia Sophomore ID Camp, then I would have to give to [player_tooltip player_id='1228056' first='Adesi' last='Foster']. In fact, I would also give her the "Most Unselfish" Award if there were such a thing. So it's no coincidence that the player she was most reminiscent of with her performance at camp was Dennis Rodman. Foster played as hard or harder than anyone at the showcase event crashing the boards with a purpose on both ends and then whipping the basketball out to a ball handler getting the break started or to reset the offense in the halfcourt. Adesi took advantage of her efforts rebounding the ball and was rewarded with several put backs and trips to the free throw line. Foster also created extra opportunities for her team by sprinting to the baselines and sidelines and saving loose balls and missed shots from going out of bounds. She did this countless times. Foster also sprinted hard and finished well on the break. She is the kind of player every coach wants on their team and I look forward to seeing her play again.     Lapsley maybe one of the more underrated guards in her class as showed just how versatile she is in transition both scoring and distributing the ball with success and high regularity. She did not have the chance in this setting to call and execute plays, something she will have to do at Buford, but I have seen her do that well in the past. Defensively, no one played harder and applied more on ball pressure than Jelena. She is a tough kid who had not problem initiating contact handling the basketball, finishing at the rim, or battling for rebounds against bigger players in the paint.     With [player_tooltip player_id='726382' first='Hollyn' last='Hicks'] about to graduate after this season at East Forsyth, ending a very good career, the Lady Broncos will be looking to find another presence in the post. Kell may be just the player they need as she played selfless basketball the entire camp. At nearly six foot tall, Marley showed good fluidity in her movement blocking shots and rebounding the basketball on defense. Offensively, she did a nice job sprinting the floor after clearing the boards and getting the ball to a guard. She was rewarded for efforts with easy baskets in transition. Kell played with a high motor and she should be a meaningful contributor for East Forsyth in her sophomore season.
