About Emery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I believe my gameplay style is confident and aggressive. I like to push the pace and stay active on both ends of the court, creating opportunities for my teammates and looking to score. I am competitive and try to always bring a lot of energy to the court.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I keep my mentality focused. I push myself to be better and stay disciplined, and always try my best to stay positive and support my team. I work very hard at being coachable. Outside of basketball, I am easygoing, but I lock in when it is time to work.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I participate in FCA, and will begin Big Brothers Big Sisters this upcoming year. I have also signed up to volunteer with Youth United with our local United Way. I have also received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. I also serve on the Superintendent Student Advisory Council for my school system.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I feel like I have developed strong teamwork and leadership qualities through both service work and playing team sports all my life. Being part of a team through sports or community service events has taught me how to communicate clearly, support others, and take charge when needed. I take pride in representing myself, family, my school, and team in a respectful and positive way.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I’ve been fortunate not to face many personal challenges in my own life, but this past year my godmother was diagnosed with cancer, which had a big impact on me. Seeing someone I care about go through something so difficult helped me understand the importance of resilience, staying positive, and supporting others during tough times. It reminded me not to take any opportunity for granted.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a four-year college where I can continue playing basketball while pursuing my degree. I’m not completely sure what field I want to go into yet. Still, I’m excited about finding a school environment that offers strong academic support and opportunities to explore different interests.
