I have seen Mackenzie a lot the last few months with both Woodstock and Wood Elite and there is no doubt that she is a future college player. She hit multiple shots from three during live play to go along with a tough offensive rebound and crafty reverse finish for two. Defensively, Slater blocked multiple shots again, something she seemingly does in every game I watch her play. She plays with a very high motor and competes on both ends against high level competition in the games I have seen her teams play. She may measure 5’10, Slater plays like a six-footer and impacts the game in a lot of ways. Defensively, she doesn’t just use her length to block shots, but puts pressure on ball handlers making their lives difficult. She is a sneaky good athlete who consistently rebounds the ball at a high level for her position.

Mackenzie is a competitive high IQ defender that can guard on the perimeter and in the post. She doesn’t shy away from contact, a rugged player who likes the physicality of the game. Her instincts on defense stand out, quick to break up passes as an opportunistic thief. For Woodstock to have a good season, Slater must be equally as aggressive on offense. She’s a steady shooter from the corners and has a nice pull-up game from in-between. Hunting her shot whether it be on the perimeter or even on post ups must be an area of focus. If she does so, expect robust production from Mackenzie. She should be able to double her 4.9 points and 2.2 rebounds per game she averaged as a sophomore.

Holds an Anderson offer. Tough-nosed wing defends bigger players routinely. Sneaky good shot blocker for her size. Plays with confidence on offense, a steady shooter from distance. Crafty with her dribble when attacking the basket. Rebounds competitively. Brings positive energy and love of the game to the floor.

Slater is a work horse who knows how to get to the 50/50 balls. Hustles from start to finish. Also, can step out and shoot the 3 ball but also get to the rim. A player that can do it all and take over the game if needed.
