If you’re a program in need of a player who can stretch the court as well as defend one of, if not the best player on the opposite team, Currey is a player to truly look into. She has a smooth form and release that will be highly effective at the next level. She has the size, the motor, as well as the length to help a program.

Currey plays this game at her own pace. She doesn’t need to be the fastest or the most athletic player on the court to be impactful. She’s alert, she has a high motor, and on top of that, both of those stand out skills make her the perfect prototype for a 3&D player for college programs. Her shot is smooth, and she has no quit on the defensive end. She can deal with perimeter players just as well as players who live in the post.

Currey is known as a shooter, but today she showed her defensive side of her game. She was tasked with guarding one the best players in the state, and she definitely slowed her down a bit in the first half. Every college program needs a 3&D player, and Currey is showing that she can fit that mold.

Currey has one of the smoothest jumpers in the state and has the length and skill set that allows her to be a point forward for her program if needed. From a defensive standpoint, she can guard 2-4 and cause problems for the whole game plan. I truly think she’s one of those players who can be better at the next level.. the versatility will translate.

The versatility is what stands out when you first notice Currey.. then quickly you realize she’s a major threat from the outside as well. College coaches need shooters on their team to secure wins, and Currey can be just that. She can play off the ball as your set shooter, be in the action, and make shots off the move or dribble.

Not too many prospects in this class have a picture perfect release, but Currey can notch her name in that category. The release is high, quick, and she never seems phased. With a jumper like that, she doesn’t settle for just three balls; she knows how to get to the midrange and take high percentage shots from there as well.

For the past couple of years, I’ve raved about how smooth a shot maker Emily is. When you have a seamless and one motion type of shooting form, it opens up a ton of scoring abilities simply because the form is picture perfect. Outside of her shooting ability, she can score at the rim as well. Her length and no fear type of attitude has always stood out. She could do some damage at the next level if she lands in the right hands in the right system.

I was there to see Emily’s opponent, and as the game wore on, she really grew on me as a prospect. She is long, wiry-strong, fast, bouncy, and just all-around explosive. She played with a tremendous motor and did a lot of the “little things” to help her team, though she played more of a ‘4’ role than on the wing. She was great on the glass, she looked to score it from the mid-post and in, and she was excellent defensively, whether she was defending the wing or protecting the paint from “help” side. She can bring a lot of value to the next level.

Currey has one of the smoothest forms in this class and can get hot within a couple of shots. Her ability to shoot at a high clip is shown more on the circuit than the high school field, but when she suits up for Maine East, you’re able to see how she impacts the game without the ball. She cuts, she defends, and never stays in the same area for too long.

Maine South has one of the deepest rosters in the state, and Currey is a part of that group of players who can be a game changer for them. Her form and shooting touch are among the best in this class. Defensively, her length and energy will be key on that side of the ball.
