Szczechowiak left a lasting first impression, see evaluations here, and this was before I found out her mom and my daughter played overseas together. She was “long and athletic” which is the base, and she stood above “the magic number” so those are a couple of things that set the foundation. She’s become more fluid on both ends of the court, and seeing her elevate and grab whatever is thrown her way are positive stepping stones, but here’s the kicker, her “hands and footwork” have also improved, so has her defense and shot blocking

Szczechowiak was one of the NEW FACES I caught back in March at the #SimmieColsonClassic (see evaluation here), and I haven’t seen her since then. I mentioned in the article that her mom and my daughter played overseas together in Poland, so hearing about how her mom was inside the paint is showing with Emma’s “on the court” progression. Physicality is not bothering her, giving or taking, her “hands and footwork’ to score looked good, but so did her timing to block shots. Her defense was solid, and she hit the boards on both ends

Szczechowiak grabbed my attention when she walked into the building, ironically her mom and my daughter played together in Poland, never would have known that if I didn’t engage with people. She stands above “the magic number” and has good timing and a solid skill set. She blocked, altered, and even deflected some shots, scored around the basket, and showed she could defend inside the paint
