Clark scored a career/game high 30 points on 11/14 shooting. She also had 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 4 assists to add to her explosion on the offensive end. She has been a standout for Regina all year long and it somewhat came as of a surprise. Last season she had a consistent season but nothing to the impact that she has had this go-around. She has been putting on a show in more than one facet of the game consistently and it’s really starting to shine to everyone watching. After coming off of a season where the Regals made the state tournament, this season was going to be a much tougher challenge to return as they lost so much production from their center position. With virtually no height the guard play was going to be crucial and it has been. Being led by the trio of Clark, Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5’9″ | PG Iowa City Regina | 2025 State IA , and Grace Gaarde Grace Gaarde 5’3″ | PG Iowa City Regina | 2023 State IA . Now we just need to see how far this group can take them without a post presence. A team that is going to have to play fast and efficient to make a deep run.
Audi Crooks Audi Crooks 6’3″ | C Bishop Garrigan | 2023 State #42 Nation IA started off her senior year playoff’s out on the right foot on Tuesday night in a dominating 80-27 win over GTRA high school, moving them one game closer to the state tournament. Crooks poured in a game high 35 points on 17/20 shooting, showing off her efficiency near the rim. This was a situation where BG recognized that their post is the best player in the state and they are going to feed her until they can’t anymore, which has been their recipe all year long, leading them to an overall 21-1 record up until this point. Crooks and company are the 1A favorites to win it all. They have been since last season and that isn’t going to change unless somehow they lose, which I don’t see happening. Crooks is the headliner of this team in the papers but this group has some impressive PLAYERS. Some individuals who are going to have the chance in the future to also play some high-end college ball in their own right. I’m interested to see the strategies of coaches against the Golden Bears. If they slow down Crooks everyone else would step up so it’s sort of a lose/lose for other teams but anything can happen so we will just have to wait and see.
Nakia Ollivierre Nakia Ollivierre 5’9″ | PG Waterloo West | 2026 IA came into her freshman year with some hype around her name but not nearly enough as she deserved. This season thus far she has been fantastic as a point guard and leader to her AGWSR squad. Leading her Cougars team to an overall 21-1 record after their first playoff win last night. Ollivierre scored a game high 25 points in their 75-26 victory. She wasn’t just a scorer though, she also contributed by grabbing 6 rebounds, 8 steals, and 3 assists. Rounding off an impressive overall performance for her first playoff game. She will take this momentum and use it to keep herself motivated as they move closer to the state tournament. Regarding her future in general, she is in a great spot. At this pace I won’t be surprised when she becomes a top 3 player in her class, if not even higher when it’s all said and done. Her ceiling is very high when you account for all the factors. I’m excited to see how she will expand her game over the next few off-seasons.
Highlights
Malia Clayburg Malia Clayburg 5’10” | SF Coon Rapids-Bayard | 2026 State IA has been super solid on the floor for her freshman year at Coon Rapids-Bayard high school. Clayburg has been a consistent offensive weapon all season long while also helping on the defensive side of the floor at the same time. On Tuesday evening the Crusaders won a tight battle, 45-40, to move onto the next round of the playoffs. Malia registered 11 points on 5/8 shooting, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals in the victory over River Valley. A solid showing if you were to ask me. Looking toward the future, not evening including the rest of this season, this team is going to be just fine. They have several young freshman who have shown up during this season that they are going to be around and productive over the next few seasons, setting a great foundation for the future of this program.
