Isla of MBA made a major impact on the defensive end during Saturday play at the PGH MI State Tournament. Her length consistently disrupted opposing offenses, as she got her hands on countless passes and created problems with deflections throughout the day. Isla’s activity and anticipation helped her come away with multiple steals, turning defense into offense for her team. Beyond her defensive presence, she also showed the ability to attack downhill offensively and put pressure on defenders in transition and half-court situations. Her versatility and ability to affect the game on both ends made her a true difference maker whenever she was on the floor.

Isla has the length, athleticism, aggressive two-way presence, explosiveness off the dribble, strength, toughness, and developing perimeter accuracy to be a high-caliber guard prospect. She showed it during GVSU Elite Camp, contributed immediately at South Christian, and reiterated her high ceiling with a strong tournament at the Great Lakes Kickoff for MBA UAA.

Isla had an impressive Saturday for MBA UAA 15U at the Great Lakes Kickoff. She escaped a trap on the perimeter, used a quick crossover, hit the gas pedal, and scored through contact for the and-one layup. Isla completed the three-point play at the line. She swished a smooth three-pointer in the corner, split defenders with a spin dribble, and dropped in a floater over the help. Isla closed out hard to block a perimeter shot and was active on the boards. She attacked hard on a drive, then finished another strong and-one layup through contact. Isla has length, quickness, toughness, two-way abilities, and a high motor that gives her a high ceiling as a guard at the next level.

Isla was a 2029 prospect at GVSU who immediately grabbed my attention. As a guard, her length, quickness, and athleticism left an impression. She zipped passes to teammates, buried a wing three with confidence, and drove with a burst to the basket. Another playmaker is coming to Grand Rapids South Christian, and I hope to see Isla again at the Freshman Showcase.
