I find it difficult to describe just how good Sherill was on Sunday. Simply put, Jailynn was dominant from start to finish at The Expo, looking every bit like a player ready to make a significant move up the 2028 rankings. The 6’1 forward, who recently transferred from Hermantown to Proctor, played with pace, finesse and physicality, gliding up and down the floor and using her strength to create space around the basket. Give her room and she can knock down the three, pressure her too much and she has the quickness to get past you. Without a doubt, though, the biggest difference in what we saw Sunday versus what we watched two years ago is confidence. Tons of confidence. We’ve always believed Sherill possessed the tools to become an outstanding player. Now she appears to believe it, too. Currently ranked #35 in the class, Jailynn deserves a big bump up the list and D1 coaches need to get In on the conversation.

Following a stellar sophomore season where she dominated the scoring column for Hermantown, Sherill went on to have a breakout summer with the Minnesota Comets . The 6’0 wing has plenty of upside to her game. Hardworking on defense, a versatile scorer, and a high level athlete, Jailynn is a top 35 ranked prospect in the junior class. This summer she collected Division 2 offers from schools such as Southwest Baptist University and Minot State.

Sherill is very strong around the rim and does a great job of clearing space in order to get off tough finishes in the painted area. She attacks the glass and does a nice job of pushing the pace in transition then getting all the way to the rim or creating opportunities for other people. Her strength makes her a really tough cover for anyone when she’s driving to the rim.

The lengthy freshman from the Northland was one of the day’s great revelations. A complete unknown to us entering the day, Jailynn did enough good stuff to make it clear that she is a scholarship-level candidate. There’s a lot of work to be done, of course, involving trainers and skill development and on-court experience. But the raw materials are outstanding. Digging a little deeper we learned that Jailynn’s dad was a football standout in college who stands 6’5 and has a fitness training enterprise. Clearly, the apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree! Sherill is a multi-sport athlete who will have choices to make. If Jailynn opts to get serious about basketball, there’s no telling how high she’ll climb.
