Janessa Horwitz, welcome to Florida basketball. The Senior center debuted this week with a 14 point and 4 rebound performance. SHe was a standout at the Flagler camp this summer where she announced her move to Florida. The big can pass the rock and is a tough cover around the goal. She has the ability to score and can also facilitate the ball from the center position. This was a strong opening act. With her size, skill set, and feel for the game, Horwitz has the tools to be a central piece for a team looking to run it back and chase another state championship title.

Janessa Horwitz brought toughness and purpose to the post. The Maryland transfer is set to make noise at New Smyrna Beach and help lead New Smyra’s charge for Lakeland and State-Championship repeat. Horwitz’s positioning, physicality, rebounding, and passing out of double teams were impressive. She also showed great mobility. Horwitz is ready for championship-level basketball in Florida and she may have just put the State of Florida on notice.
