Janiyah was a player I had heard a lot about but had not seen play in person for any extended period of time. Like Acree, Weaver was included in the last edition of the ESPN SportCenter NEXT rankings for the ’27 class coming in at number 65 nationally. She is listed as a Small Forward on the website, but Weaver brought the ball up, not just on defensive rebounds, but the majority of the time I saw versus Sandy Creek and Monroe. I’m not sure if that’s a recent development or change for her, but I liked what I saw and love what she could become if that is her primary position for Morrow. She was comfortable and confident on the ball and did a nice job facilitating for her teammates and initiating the offense at 6’4 with smaller defenders applying pressure and harassing her the majority of the time. She had several very good look and finds to her very skilled teammates Nyla Chivers Nyla Chivers 5'8" | SG State GA and Music Daze, while also almost averaging double figures scoring the ball. She holds multiple division one offers with the most recent coming from Penn State, SC State, NC A&T, Florida A&M, and Georgia State in the last month. The potential is definitely there so it I like Penn State not being afraid to step up be the first Power Four school to extend an offer. She has the ability to impact the game in a lot of ways and could be another diamond in the rough coming from Bounce Nation.

Janiyah Weaver Janiyah Weaver 6'4" | SF State GA showed off her ability to make a nice one-handed pass up the court hitting her teammate in stride for some fast break points threading the needle between two defenders.  She runs the floor well being ready for her own fast breaks scoring off the pass.  She did well attacking the paint, drawing defenders, and making the dish to her teammates.  She stepped outside the perimeter knocking down her shot from deep.

Weaver has elite size and versatility, standing around 6-foot-5 if not taller. Janiyah played all over the floor against Team Elite Hubbard, most impressively helping handle the ball against the press as she showed a nice feel with speed. Weaver still isn’t packed with muscle per say but she has improved her functional strength throughout the years and doesn’t get pushed around much. She can be a game wrecker on defense whether blocking shots down low or forcing turnovers at the top of the 1-3-1. D-I schools have ramped up their recruitment as of late. In the loss to Team Elite Hubbard, Weaver was a bright spot with 10 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block.

Weaver, like Kopacek, has seen her recent play in travel ball rewarded with offers from divisions one schools Penn State, SC State, and Illinois- Chicago. Her size and length allow Weaver to have a huge impact on the game on both ends of the floor. I believe Janiyah’s best basketball is still ahead of her and she continues to focus on skill development, which clearly has been paying off.

High ceiling tweener moves from Maynard Jackson to Morrow. Averaged 6.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.9 steals and 2.6 blocks per game as a sophomore. Creates mismatches with her guard skills on the perimeter. Continuing to add strength to her frame will help her when playing in the paint.
