About Jaselle
Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Lang is a tough, two-way guard that makes up for a lack of traditional basketball height by bringing an edge and physicality to the floor. It certainly helps her on the defense end, where she combines that grit with lateral quickness and a willingness to shut down the opponent. On offense, she flashes good form and a quick release on the jumper. If the opponent pushes out on her, she’s fast off of the dribble with either hand. Again, she’s strong. That helps her finish at the rim.

of Xavier High School will be competing this AAU season with a program out of Cedar Rapids in
Team Iowa
. This program will compete on the Select 40 Circuit throughout the Spring/Summer, playing against some of the toughest competition in the Country. Lang is a SG prospect that primarily succeeds off of the basketball. She is a player that can let it go from deep in a quick moment, usually always giving it a good look from behind the arc. She can also handle the rock a little bit if pressured as well. I’m excited to see what Lang can put together over the next year a half. If she is put in a position to be successful, I’m sure she will make the most of it.

I think Jaselle has taken a big step in confidence and IQ from her sophomore season. She looked settled and ready for the moment on Saturday and made good decisions throughout the scrimmage. She scored off the cut, hit a deep two on a relocation against the zone, and was diving all over the floor (leading to three steals). I’m looking forward to seeing Lang continue to develop this year.

If Jaselle’s practice Tuesday was any indication of how her season will go, opponents had better get ready. Lang came out of the gate 4/4 on three pointers to start practice and pulled down multiple offensive rebounds in the first drill. Her confidence in her shot has blossomed so far and she has continued her consistent court vision, aggression on defense, and hustle from baseline to baseline. I predict a big-time increase in Jaselle’s production this year!
