Battled back from injuries to help compete with her Lady Red Hawks teammates. Jayda brings an old-school grinder approach to the floor. Yes, she can do work on the interior, knocking down high % shots, and mid-range jumpers, and be utilized in the screen game. She too has range in her game, where she will step out and knock down the 3 ball. Add her ability to rebound and block shots, this kid is tough. The University of West Alabama is getting a steal with this young lady.

The University of West Alabama signee has been solid throughout the season. She has been solid around the blocks and in the mid-range, getting buckets at a consistent clip. She can stretch the floor out, hitting the 3 ball, giving her club a lift when it’s needed. She makes her money by blocking shots and owning the boards. A necessity that helps propel clubs. This kid plays the game with so much passion. She is a solid piece to the Stewart’s Creek attack. Look for her to finish out her senior season strong.

Bernard has always been an extraordinary defender and rebounder. She has great athleticism and length, combined with a big time motor. This past season, however, she really begun to show flashes of an offensive game. She’s even begun stepping out and hitting threes!! Bernard’s ability to defend is already at a D1 level. If her offensive skill can keep taking a jump in improvement, her upside is through the roof. Look for a huge senior season.

I really enjoy stories of players like Bernard: has always had all the intangible skills of height and athleticism, but just needed to put the skill aspect with it to reach her potential. And she really has done it.
When you watch her play heading into her senior year, she’s more than simply a physical specimen….she’s a basketball player. She’s become an effective shooter out to three. She has nice hands, and makes sound decisions, in the pick and roll. Elite finisher. Nice vision. She’s turned herself into one of the absolute best posts in TN.

make one of the toughest 1-2 punches in the state as both are 6’0+ D1 kids that love controlling the paint and playing physically.
Bernard is already a D1 level defender/shot blocker/rebounder, but is really beginning to show signs offensively that changes her individual trajectory as a player. Get on her X (@jaydabernard1) and watch the film.
She’s finishing efficiently around the rim with both hands. What I like the most is the court vision I’ve seen from her. Her dual ability to both score at a high percentage and make high level passes from the paint potentially takes her team another level.

Stewarts Creek continues to pile together quality wins, as they beat Hendersonville on Friday night. Bernard continues to have a really impressive season, as the 6’0 junior has expanded her range, and is now a legitimate threat from three. She’s always been a high level defender, elite rebounder and shot blocker….and now she’s putting together some offensive flashes that make her a different type of collegiate prospect! She finsished with 8 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 blocks in a near triple-double. Former Coach Bianca Hensley told me she’s a terrific person off the floor too! Well done young lady.

It’s really fun to follow a player like Bernard’s career. She’s always had all the physical gifts to be special, but recently she’s taken a jump in skill that has brought her to a new level. In a huge win vs Brentwood at the Insider Exposure TN Live Christmas event, she was listed as a “Standout” performer as she put up 13 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. She’s turning into a game-changer on both ends of the floor.

Bernard (’25) has averaged nearly a double double all season. Full of potential, Bernard has the size, athleticism, and length to be a very high level defender. This week vs Blackman (in a really close loss), Bernard had 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 5! blocks. Lots of potential for this old-school post.

I was really interested to see Bernard play vs Central. Bernard has great size, but Central is great at getting teams to play a track meet that negates height. I thought Central was able to do that a bit. When the game was really close in the first quarter, Bernard was getting lots of touches….and then the few touches she got….the more the game got away.

6’1 kid that’s really just starting to tap into her offensive potential. Already a high level shot blocker and rebounder. Plays hard, high motor. Can step out to the perimeter and hit from 3. A really versatile kid loaded with potential.
