Fresh off a strong weekend at the Border War, Sykes and her Midwest Hustle Elite teammates are in Spooky Nook (PA) for UA Rise competition. She’s a grinder of a guard, who is often in the right place, right time for steals and rebounders. While also scoring it well in the mid-range and off the bounce. Add in good spot up shooting from three, and it’s easy to see how her game can translate to the next level.

Another key piece of Jenks’ strong junior class. Had an efficient scoring night. Mixing catch and shoot threes with drives to the rim. Had an impressive scoop finish to cap off one of those takes. Heady player when it comes to putbacks and turning turnovers into transition points. Rock solid scoring guard, who seems to always impress when watched.

The 918 guard was a key part of a 4-0 tournament for her squad at the recent Run for the Roses. Based on these clips, she once again impressed with her all around scoring abilities. Quality shooter from long distance. Especially in spot up scenarios. But what really stood out in the video was how she worked in the 6-12 feet range. Plays balanced and under control on those drives, with great touch on a floater/runner type shot. Also can stop on two feet and hit in the mid-range.

There are shooting guard and point guards. Jayda is a scoring guard as she has many ways to score points in her game. A very good shooting guard off the catch that can knock down the 3. One of those guards that is dangerous off the dribble keeping the defends guessing as she has the footwork to pull up or blow by for the downhill attack. Impressive is the footwork coming off the bounce. It is in rhythm with a good lift and shot at top of the shot. Strong sense of where the ball is coming off the rim gives her the ability to clean up many missed shots. 2027 is fun to watch cause of the many ways she scores.

Sykes rhymes with YIKES, and let me start with her being a “long and athletic” guard, that too is the base, so her handling the ball under pressure effortlessly immediately grabbed my attention as she hit teammates on the money in transition. She gave me the slight HEZ in the set to go by defenders and score, yet her “stop and pop” jumper, along with showing she could “catch and shoot,” had me smiling, plus her defense was solid, and she rebounded on both ends

Making steady waves in 6A for a young Trojans core. Love the all around scoring game for Sykes, regularly in double figures. Has sneaky wiggle and burst when it comes to attacking off the bounce. With the footwork and body control to avoid defenders on the way to the rim. Competitive on the defensive end as well. Rock solid foundation for a player who is cutting her teeth in Oklahoma’s biggest classification and has clear collegiate upside and skill.

Sykes joined her previously mentioned Trojans teammate as an active and efficient do it all prospect. Made plays as part of Jenks’ pressure defense with active hands and a willingness to get on the floor. Scored at the rim, and looked great on a three pointer, where she had to take one dribble after a pump fake and then swished with textbook form and good elevation. Jenks has an interesting core of sophomores that look set to make big plays this winter.

One of the higher IQ players that I saw this weekend, it is clear to see that Jayda is a student of the game. Do not let your guard down around her if you have the ball, or what’s yours will become hers. She is a great athlete who reminds me a little of a younger version of another tremendous Jenks athlete,

. Her sneaky athleticism is going to take her pretty far and matched up with her high basketball IQ and willingness to do the little things, the sky is truly the limit for this young prospect.
