Julia is an extremely fun guard to watch play on the court. She has elite court vision, seeing up the court and being able to push the ball with her pass nicely. She plays great in transition, controlling her dribble and being able to finish through traffic in the paint. Benthin led the Kangaroos with 16 points and eight rebounds while playing a major role on both ends of the floor. She consistently attacked the defense and found scoring opportunities both inside and from the perimeter. Her rebounding presence helped Lake Washington stay competitive despite Kennedy Catholic’s advantage on the glass. Benthin also added three assists while helping facilitate the offense during key stretches of the game. Her all-around effort was instrumental in keeping the Kangaroos within reach throughout the contest.

She has an insanely bright future on the court and many, many D1 coaches will want her talents

Julia’s skillset and ability to do it all on the court is extremely apparent. She is a player who scores at 3 levels in a variety of ways. She can knock down deep shots, stop on a dime to hit mid-range shots, get down hill to finish with either hand and even mix in a beautiful floater from time to time. She plays elite defense, moving her feet quickly to stay in front of opposing players with no problem. She has many D1 schools looking her way too and the number of them will only keep climbing at the rate she is improving on the court.

Julia is the top 2027 player in the state and is surrounded by some of the top players in the state on her Lake Washington team. She does a great job filling her role, knowing when to takeover and score the ball or when to facilitate and find open teammates. One thing she always does is play elite defense and bring energy to her team. Against Eastlake, she had 16 points and 5 steals.

Benthin is a highly skilled guard who can score in a lot of ways. She shoots well from all levels, has the craft to manipulate defenders and work to space, and can really turn the corner with her excellent acceleration. I’ve been really impressed with her physicality over the summer, not just her strength at the rim but her ability to play with speed while changing direction and deploying dribble moves.
