Morgan was not the only former standout from Emerald making her way to the nearby Eagles’ nest. Greenwood coach LaShonda Chiles not only added frontcourt depth, but backcourt depth as well in the form of Williams who will be entering her sophomore season. Williams has more experience than a typical sophomore given she has played at the varsity level since she was a seventh grader. She averaged 9.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.1 steals in the 18 games she played in 2024-25 for the Vikings. All of the aforementioned numbers were career highs. Williams’ addition is another reason why the Eagles will surely be among the toughest of outs when we get to November.

Departures from 4A Emerald turned out to be gains for 5A Division 2 Greenwood over the offseason. Williams established a rising profile with the Vikings and is now bringing her skillset to an Eagles team in search of the big prize in 5A Division 2 play. Williams possesses superb ball handling skills and those can come in handy when looking to dribble out of precarious spots posed by a defense. Her fearlessness particularly displays itself when attacking the rim and she has no problems drawing contact and getting to the free throw line. Williams has played at the varsity level since she was a seventh grader. If the 9.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.1 steals is an indication of what she will bring to the table for the Eagles in 2025-26, look out rest of the 5A Division 2 field.

Jurnee was able to drop some floaters here today from time to time. She likes to get the ball to the cup and score it in transition. Jurnee plays well on and off the ball from the backcourt. She plays the game with a bit of a scorer’s mentality.

When one plays a season at the varsity level as a seventh grader, that standout must be doing something right. That was the case for this up-and-comer from the Vikings. While Emerald’s program has seen a multitude of departures the last few seasons, Williams looks to be a key building block in its future. Part of her offensive arsenal includes the ability to connect either from midrange or long range. Williams approaches the game with a heads-up attitude – including the ability to poke the rock from an opposing ball carrier at the correct moment and create an additional possession for her team. Getting out in transition, handling the ball in traffic and drawing contact are other noteworthy elements to her game. Emerald will move up from 3A to 4A starting next season.

Williams likes to play her game as an off guard. Jurnee has no problem letting it fly from deep or from the mid-range. She connected on a few shots here today. Last season she averaged 5.6 ppg as a 7th grader for the Lady Vikings. Look for those numbers to jump with the departure of the Oliver sisters to nearby Greenwood HS.

Williams is off to a fast start for the Lady Vikings program in the Upstate. Jurnee can really knockdown shots on the perimeter and has no problems creating her own offense. She tends to have good selection on the floor and seems to be very active on both ends of the court with her play.
