Thompson a long and rangy really cleans up on the boards on both ends of the floor for the Lady Tigers. She runs the floor very well and strictly plays down in the paint. Kamari does a nice job of rebounding the ball outside of her area on both ends of the floor. Thompson averaged a double-double this season for the Lady Tigers.

She keeps the ball up high when claiming it off the glass and really understands on how to play down in the paint. Thompson was very instrumental in the Lady Tigers success over the past few years.

Talent and versatility are two of the many attributes a college team will get with Thompson as part of its roster. She announced prior to the start of the season that she received an offer from in-state Coker University. Thompson takes on team captaincy duties for a Southside team that is among the elite 3A squads across the state. She has hit the ground running in her senior season as she has averaged 24.8 points, 10 rebounds and 3.7 steals in the six matchups the currently undefeated Tigers have played so far (as of this writing). Thompson’s Tigers advance to last season’s Upper State Final – and they have eyes on the big 3A prize in 2022-23.

Kamari averaged a double-double last season for the Lady Tigers at 16.2 ppg and 12.2 rebounds. Thompson is one of the top players in the 2023 class that remains uncommitted for next year. Kamari cleans up on the glass on both ends of the floor and really understands how to keep the ball up high after claiming it.

She does a good job of running the floor and filling the lane. Kamari can protect the rim at times after averaging 2.3 blocks last season.

Thompson had herself a banner 2021-22 with 3A Southside and coach Milton Parks as the Tigers advanced to the Upper State Finals of the 3A SCHSL tournament. She took that momentum into the travel season where she participated in grassroots ball with FBC Carolina Hawks. She assumed team captaincy duties for last season’s Tigers and can play at virtually any spot in the frontcourt. Thompson is difficult for defenses to contend with as she is a skilled shot blocker who can also take advantage of an opponent’s ball handling miscues. Her scoring and rebounding also make her a double-double possibility whenever she takes to the court.

Kamari seems to be a double-double every time she touches the floor. She’s extremely active on the glass on both ends of the floor. Thompson can rebound out of her area while running the floor and filling lane at ease. Kamari is going to be a great addition for some program at the college level.

Fresh off a 2021-22 season that saw her Tigers get to within one victory of the 3A state championship game, Thompson continued her superb play during the AAU campaign. Among the events she made her presence felt were the Phenom Lady Rumble, Insider Exposure Apache Memorial in Charlotte and the Adidas 3SSB. Thompson stands at an even six feet and shines as a scorer, rebounder, ball hawk and shot blocker. The Tigers did graduate a few seniors from last year’s team, but Southside is poised to once again be one of the top 3A teams to watch in 2022-23.
