About Katara

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a versatile player. My position is a guard but I've been utilized in multiple positions. I'm a strong ball handler and can dribble in both low and high intensity games. I'm an unselfish passer, a team player and my goal is to get the best shot. I can adapt in all aspects of the game, and contribute effectively regardless of my position. I love to win and to play the game.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm very approachable, humble and a calm person. I'm passionate at what I do and I'm not afraid to face any challenges.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm involve in a Japanese club at my high school and volunteer at Beyond Hunger, an organization that provide food to anyone in need.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I'm always learning and working on enhancing my communication skills. To be more clear and effective when communicating with my peers, coaches and teachers.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Balancing loads of homework. I've learned that I need to prioritize my time and to be organized so I'm able to be successful.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college that will have a strong Computer/Information Technology program and an organization that has a history of developing strong players for the next level.

A teammate of Draine, Katara has a nice all around offensive skill set. She can shoot it from deep, really deep, as she has hit two three quarter court buzzer beaters this year. She handles the ball like a guard and uses her size to slash and finish around the hoop. For a freshman, her competitive streak is already there, and she is still learning to channel it. With veteran teammates helping guide her, she is turning that energy into production and helping build the program. The ceiling is high, and she already looks comfortable in big moments.
