Kelsey closed the regular season strong, using her long reach to battle for positioning around the basket and secure offensive rebounds. Her constant hustle on the offensive glass creates extra possessions and second-chance opportunities for her team. From the perimeter she shoots the ball well and can create space for her shot off the dribble. When attacking the basket she lowers her shoulder to clear space while keeping the ball high, preventing smaller defenders from knocking it away.

A balanced player that’s been effective on the boards, defending multiple archetypes and showing improvement in consistency as a scorer. Kelsey certainly made large strides from last season early into this one, however she still has another level in her game that she can reach.

Kelsey has been a consistent presence on the glass, ripping down rebounds in traffic and creating extra possessions for her team. She finishes well around the basket by staying patient and under control, and she keeps her head up to find open teammates when the defense collapses. On the defensive end, she reads the floor well and gets into passing lanes to come up with steals.

Johnston was a key contributor last season helping bring Rivers a championship home. Coming into this new year one, its looked like Kelsey is ready to step into an even larger role. More responsibility is something the ’27 wing can withstand. Her game is well-founded and her balanced attributes allow her to be utilized in so many ways. Rivers vs. Berkshire will be a great matchup for Johnston.
