lead the way for the Benson Astros tonight with 15 pts, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Kemara’s leadership skills as one of her team’s point guards truly shined tonight.
She was driving to the basket making tough shots and offensive plays. She had a couple of spin moves to the hoop, that China couldn’t defend. She knocked down some 3 point shots as well, proving she can be a threat from a distance.
She was stealing the ball on defense and getting fast breaks to set up her teammates for a quick bucket in transition. Impressive performance by Benson’s young sophomore.
After the game during her interview, Kemara stated, “playing china was such an amazing experience. Seeing talent from other parts of the world is a great opportunity. Not everyone gets to play teams from other countries. We fought hard and got to experience something new!”

is having a strong early season as a starter for Benson. The athletic two-way guard is a playmaker who can run the point, knock down three-pointers, and score in transition. Her pull-up midrange jumper is nice. She put up 15 points and 6 rebounds against nationally ranked Etiwanda in the Holiday Classic Diamond bracket semifinals. Phillips averaged 12.7 points (shooting 47% from the field) and 4.3 rebounds per game at the tournament. She should be ranked in the top ten in Oregon’s Class of 2028.

is a strong sophomore guard out of Benson High School. She’s been working hard in her off-season with ML20 and traveling all over the US competing in high-level tournaments.
Kemara aka “Key” has a high IQ out on the court. She can handle the ball as a point guard or shoot the lights out as a shooting guard. She’s a multifaceted player with a tremendous heart and strong work ethic. She’s a strong defender and is known for her on-ball approach to stopping opponents.
A team captain and leader for Benson, Key has tremendous court vision and is great at helping her teammates succeed by encouraging them on and off the floor.
During this weekend’s showcase, Key helped lead her team to victory in a close battle. She knocked down some “key” free throws down the stretch. She also had some impressive shooting in the 3-point contest.
This next season should be a standout one for Kemara. She’s surrounded by a ton of talent at Benson, and there’s no doubt she will be at the front of the pack, helping them to another successful season.

will fit in right away. Phillips already demonstrates elite footwork and ball handling skills as she excels in blowing by defenders and getting to the basket. In grassroots play, she has been playing with Lady Fly’s 17U team and has shown a high level of maturity that will serve her well as a freshman.
