Expert Analysis

Leah brings so much to the team with her length and agility- she recognizes when her outside shot isn’t falling, she will revert to other ways of scoring or contributing, including mid-range jumpers, taking the rock to the rim and drawing the foul, or creating shots for her teammates. She is always looking to crash the boards! Leah plays smart basketball!

Eckenrode has a lot to offer as a 5’10” shooting guard! She is a two-way threat who scores at an efficient clip while also playing lockdown defense for Newark! Eckenrode contributed with seven points and four rebounds in Newark’s game versus Margaretta. Her ability to shoot forces defenses to extend their coverage as she has a very high release point with her shot. Eckenrode is near the top of her class rankings due to her positional size and ability to impact both ends of the floor! She has a very high ceiling and high potential as a sophomore and only seems to be growing in confidence!

Eckenrode’s game keeps on rising- she is coachable and doesn’t get rattled, even in moments where the game is on the line. Her defense stands out! Sorry opponents, there’s no easy points against this girl! And she’s tough to contain because Leah can play nearly any position.

This young lady has such a high IQ, terrific feeds inside, and places it perfectly for her teammates! She’s difficult to guard because of her ability to play in multiple positions. She can score from anywhere, and has the footwork to back it up!

I spoke to Angie about Leah as she has moved up to #31 off the Watch List, and she couldn’t stop raving about her game. Leah is a freshman who has incredible court sense and can knock down the shot from anywhere. She has great range, and when she gets around the rim, her footwork is phenomenal. Nothing but up for Leah!

Moves well to the ball, knows where to be. Does a nice job on the offensive boards, can capitalize and score. You would never know she is a freshman the way she handles the game. Very poised and calm, able to make things happen.
