Lily had an impressive showing on Sunday, scoring 8 points in her team’s second game of the day. And even without the ball in her hands, Lily finds a way to make a difference.

Lily doesn’t have the size of some of her opponents, but she makes up for it with toughness and tenacity. She fights for boards, and will scrap with anyone on the floor.

Lily has a solid midrange game, and can make shots all around the horn. And her handles are off the charts. She has great control on a fast break, and is able to keep her handle when she’s attempting to make a layup.

At first glance, Lily first appears to be one of the smaller players on the court; but she makes up for that lack of size with toughness and tenacity.

Lily shows no fear when she needs to fight down low with players who are sometimes 4-5 inches taller than her. She has a nice midrange game-scoring 8 points in her second game of the day; all on 2-point field goals. She’s also excellent on a fast break, has terrific dribbling skills, and is able to remain under control when she’s converting a layup.

Lily believes she drives to the basket well, and is able to create opportunities for her teammates. She also says that she loves to be a vocal leader, and enjoys any opportunity to encourage her teammates.

I was very impressed with Lily all weekend. As a freshman playing up with sophomores this summer, she never looked out of place and consistently played with poise and confidence. More than anything, it felt like she was in control of the action whenever she was on the floor. She was rarely quiet on either end and brought a strong presence throughout the weekend. One thing I especially value in point guards is communication, and Lily stood out in that area with how vocal and engaged she was. With the ball in her hands, she attacked openings well and made quality passing reads when extra defenders committed to her. Off the ball, she also showed her value as a floor spacer by confidently taking — and knocking down — multiple threes. She is definitely a player, and I’m looking forward to following her growth throughout the summer.
