A two-sport athlete who also excels as a volleyball player, she is one of four juniors on this year’s Wilson team with coach Ki’Ari Cain completed her first season at the helm. Murray’s 4A Wilson team entered Monday’s matchup with 2A Marion shorthanded, meaning it was on others to step their games up. The Swamp Foxes’ defense made Murray work for everything she got and finished with 24 points in what was a low-scoring contest with Marion. Murray displayed her ability to handle the ball with either her right or left hand and can get downhill in a short amount of time – not always a common trait for a forward or a center. Look for Murray to also grab a large number of rebounds as well. Murray had seven of her team’s 12 points at the break.

A hard-fought contest between two of the premier 4A teams in the state in Wilson and South Florence went the way of the Tigers in part because of 15 important points put on the scoreboard by Wilson’s standout junior. While Murray will have occasions where she showcases how offensively versatile she is, the bulk of what she got accomplished against the Bruins occurred in the paint. With the height that South Florence presents defensively in the paint, scoring and rebounding in the interior on the Bruins is not easy, making Murray’s feat all the more remarkable. Out of the 15 she scored, 10 occurred in the second half. Murray was one of the five All-Tournament honorees.
