was electrifying in the 5A Title Game. Her athleticism was on display as she was scoring early and often from mid range and drives to the basket. She also was extremely aggressive on the offensive and defensive boards which provided Kellis many 2nd chance opportunities. She also showed an incredible ability to get into transition and run the floor like a guard. She is a good passer and defender. She is definitely a college level player.

If she’s healthy for this one, she’s a problem. Santos Mas brings versatility — size on the wing, scoring touch, and defensive length. She can create mismatches and stretch the floor. Coming off an injury in the quarterfinals, her availability and mobility will be something to watch. A locked-in Luz raises Kellis’ ceiling immediately.

Luz is one of the premier wings in the state, and she plays like it. She’s a dual offensive threat — equally comfortable pulling up in the mid-range or stretching you beyond the arc. What really elevates her game is her nose for the ball. She rebounds at a high level from the wing spot and creates extra possessions. After finishing as runner-up last year, she and the Cougars understand what it takes to get there.

Luz plays physical basketball. Luz appears to value team chemistry, and her energy elevates her teammates.

Luz is one of the better athletes in her class. I liked her summer progression in her off-the-dribble game. She is now very comfortable beating opponents off the dribble and using her size to finish. I expect this type of play to carry over in the upcoming season.

Luz started off slow but picked it up in the final quarter, despite eventually fouling out. In that final period, you saw the whole scoring package. She was in the paint and on the perimeter hitting shots. She finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds in limited minutes.

From the start of the game, Luz size and length was a problem for the defense. When she wasn’t crashing the offensive boards for putbacks, she was getting the rebound and going coast to coast. She shot the ball at a very high rate especially from the mid range.
